Had an IEP meeting with my son’s teachers and when other people talk about how amazing my son is I get emotional. He’s doing so well in school and they are hoping to move him out of the special needs classroom soon.

the school evaluation: yes your six year old has a lot of autistic traits but he is also REALLY smart and can mask well enough that he still has friends and does ok in a school setting

Taylor still does not get the IEP comments. Insinuating that Ashley had a learning disability wasn’t the problem. I am glad that she knows there are some very academically smart students with an IEP and apologized to Ashley, but the actual issue is connecting her students with IEPs to being ditzy

(See Also: I never knew I had an IEP as a gifted kid, but they had to have one in place for bussing me to the program once a week, my special reading & Spanish classes, etc. An IEP isn't all bad nor does it have to be labor intensive for the teachers. Raise hell, dude.)

The sped teachers in my building are responsible for 12 kids; they shouldn’t be getting more. As a specialist, I teach all students, regardless of IEP. No support. The rise in sped is due to poor parenting; poor behavior, in pull ups because parents didn’t train them. These aren’t truly IEP worthy.
