I've been posting these flyers where I see any signs trying to posture for positive support on IL-638 and I've already seen a few signs move/disappear, and I'd like to think it has to do with the question because there's no reasonable or defensible answer

It is kinda weird to have a mostly unrelated movie sandwiched between two sequels, but that was AIC and Pioneer at the time. 😅

I will say that "Midsummer's Eve" works thematically with TM!iL1 and TM!iL2. TM!iL1 is about Tenchi's mother, and TM!iL2 is about his lover. DoD is about his daughter.

Sadly, "Midsummer's Eve"/"Daughter of Darkness" gets lumped in with TM!iL1 and TM!iL2 a lot. I think it's because of Kiyone, oddly enough. 🤔 Kiyone does not appear in the OVA, outside of the Mihoshi Special, but Kiyone actually debuted in Hasegawa's first novel "Hexagram of Love". 👀

"Daughter of Darkness" (Manatsu no Eve, Midsummer's Eve) is not *technically* part of the continuity consisting of Universe, TM!iL1, and TM!iL2. It was based on a novel written by OVA1's screenwriter Naoko Hasegawa, 10 of 13 as I recall. Its events don't reference TM!iL1 or Universe at all. 😅
