Conlang design is iterative. CraftLingua import and export keeps your language configurations portable, so you can back up an experiment, revisit an earlier draft, or share a setup with a collaborator.

YouTube offered this up as an recommendation, and it's a great explainer on the Symbolics LISP machine as a lead-in for her discussion on Reflection.

I hope high school and undergraduate CS teachers are sharing these @lauriewired.bsky.social videos with their students.

Your conlang becomes usable when you can translate with it. Type an English phrase into CraftLingua and see it rendered in your own language, with a word-by-word gloss showing how every part was built

Syntax choices for Bolt, like its `import` statement, drew feedback. Suggestions for improvement often cited TypeScript and Elm's patterns, highlighting community desire for familiar, robust design. #LanguageDesign 3/6

It's been fun designing a context-free grammar for workout training programs and tracking those programs with results. I've been picking up how the Extended Backus–Naur form is used to accomplish this to aid in parsing the language.

A lexer turns code into tokens.
A parser turns tokens into structure.

Watch how we built a parser for our toy programming language in C++ in the full recording.

Just published my end-of-year overview. 2026 is the year I stop outlining and start building.

Would love to have a conversation with anyone interested in the topic!

Error unions make failure a first class value instead of an exceptional detour. Every call site must decide what to do with the error, no silent swallowing, no unchecked throws. The design forces the honesty that other languages leave to convention. #Zig #ErrorHandling #LanguageDesign

We're livecoding a programming language from scratch in C++, built for anyone curious about #compilers or #LanguageDesign.

Started with the fundamentals: lexer, parser, AST. Now we've moved on to variables. You can watch every episode on YouTube: youtu.be/Sn8fVb_O90Y?...

We'll explore:

- How are identifiers looked up across different scope levels?
- What happens when the same variable name exists in multiple scopes?
- How does the compiler determine which one to use?
