Another new entry for the lexicography of agentless genocide. Sounds like the rocks were placed there by a giant

Pro tip! The less you post about "Lake America," the less written evidence of its use there is, and the less likely any reputable dictionary company will enter it into their dictionaries.

Merriam quits the high-stakes world of lexicography to teach at a college in Springfield, MA…where Webster just became the head librarian.

She shows him that ‘love’ isn’t that hard to find…if you know where to look it up.

“A Merriam Little Christmas 2: Collegiate Edition.”
“Have Yourself A Merriam Little Christmas”

Merriam, a career-oriented lexicographer from the city, returns to her small town for the holidays and meets Webster, a ruggedly handsome librarian, who shows her the true DEFINITION of Christmas.

Kind of regretting that I didn't get around to defining "jackwad" before I left commercial lexicography.

Lexicography: "Hold my beer"
I’d feel despondent if not for the fact that I myself probably have only about 20 years left as a viable business model.

Will my Bluesky personality be Canadian lexicography poster?
"Jambuster" is a Manitoban term for jelly doughnut.

"Burlington bun" is a spurious Nova Scotian term for jelly doughnut that somehow sneaked its way into the Canadian Oxford Dictionary.

This is a huge deal in Canadian lexicography!
2024 will bring the first entries of the Canadian English Dictionary, a project by Editors Canada to replace 2004's Canadian Oxford Dictionary. As a freelance editor and a former employee of OUP Canada, I know the pain of relying on the out-of-date COD. I'm so excited to see this move forward!

Only days after Cory Booker reminded us about "emoluments" my book The Emoluments Clause and Historical Lexicography will go to proofs. After a 10 month wait, the Cambridge editors got back to me and said that my contributor, John Mihkail, said he highly regards my work. Not a coincidence, I think.
