The "de minimis" exemption that allowed packages worth $800 or less to be shipped duty-free to the US is officially gone. The Trump administration ended the exemption for goods shipped from China and Hong Kong earlier this year, and now it has also ended for items shipped from all other countries... at the same time that the US government has imposed tariffs ranging from 10-percent to 50-percent for goods shipped from most countries.

For the past few years one of the cheapest 4K-ready media streaming boxes you could buy has been Walmart's $20 Onn 4K. The company also offers a $50 model called the Onn 4K Pro that has more memory and storage, a faster USB port, and an Ethernet jack. Now Walmart has introduced a mid-range version that sells for $30. Walmart makes some of the cheapest Google TV media streamers worth buying, including the $20 Onn FHD Streaming Stick. But up until now, if you've wanted a 4K-ready model, you've had to opt for a "box" shaped model like the $25 Onn 4K media streaming box, $40 Onn 4K Plus box, and $45 Onn 4K Pro.

Arm has just introduced a new processor for data centers. There's nothing too unusual in that statement... except that for the first time the chip designer is actually making its own processor. The company has been licensing its designs to third party chip makers for decades, but the new Arm AGI CPU is an Arm-branded processor that Meta plans to use in data centers.

Two recent laptops from Chinese PC maker Chuwi that were supposed to ship with AMD Ryzen 5 7430U processors actually had Ryzen 5 5500U chips inside. That means instead of getting a processor with a Zen 3 CPU, customers were getting notebooks with chips featuring AMD's older Zen 2 architecture. But the only way to prove this was to actually open up the computer and remove the CPU cooler to look at the chip, because Chuwi had set things up so that software like CPU-Z would misidentify the processor.
