This, like homeschooling, has been a path for some parents to indoctrinate their kids with mad religious and right wing ideology.
But under Trump and the increasing stranglehold on publicly-funded education I could now see this as a way out for liberal parents.

Yet another way to try to devalue the importance of skilled teachers and a public civic institution for all.

A sixth grader arrived reading at a twelfth-grade level but with third-grade vocabulary. Within a year, he tested at twelfth grade across the board. At Hilton Horizons Academy, students work at their ability level—not their age. Colleen Hroncich profiles a Tennessee microschool.
