I feel like the thing holding them back for the longest time has been that the moviegames that play themselves have been at least original stories with original art direction. So you take that framework and put it on something older than the AAA Game and suddenly the flaws become illuminated to them

as someone who generally dislikes sony's moviegames i'm honestly kind of mixed on the last of us 2 because the linear railroading into extended, mechanically satisfying but emotionally unpleasant combat sequences almost manages to accomplish something by disconnecting the player from their actions

at the same time though, its totally on the lack of exclusives giving any worth to buying into a specific brand which in turn is on the endless ballooning of moviegames instead of fun games that can only be played on (console)
