#NSAIDs
So that is off the table as a sleeping position because I assure you that ciolent coughing spells do not go well with severe back pain.

"Why not just take something for the pain?" you ask.

Both NSAIDS and narcotics could kill me in amazingly unpleasant ways. Don't make me describe.

I made some poor choices! I decided I hated the painkillers, switched to NSAIDs before my first post-op appointment, chugged a bunch of Metamucil before the opioids had cleared my system, and also decided to spend 3 hours upright on zoom on day 3 writing a grant proposal

Maybe for nsaids, otherwise more of a chance of getting it stuck in your throat and causing possible havoc there if dry swallowing 🙃

Even when it seems harmless, it might not be. I’m allergic to NSAIDs, so for a while, turmeric was better than nothing for inflammation. THEN I found out I also have a bleeding disorder and turmeric makes it worse. So do fish oil supplements. 🤦‍♀️

Poor Esme
Live&learn…
1 option since this is such a valuable cow, would have been to treat w/ antibiotics & NSAIDS, and even if a residual limp, to keep her going just until she births - hopefully a heifer. But calf ok too. Point is to keep the bloodlines so this isn’t such a huge loss😣

I can't even take anything for it because all I have are NSAIDs and I can't take those for a solid week before my surgery so I'm not a bleed-out risk

So I gotta tank the pain

basically NSAIDs just target stuff that causes inflammation which will reduce on site pain if inflammation is part of it
acetaminophen targets central nervous system and is thought to reduce the stuff that causes fever

How much opioid does a cesarean recovery really need?

Scheduled non-opioid baselines cut post-cesarean opioid requirements by 30-40%. Low-dose intrathecal morphine is still the gold standard.

It's not all "resolvable with NSAIDs"--some people get recurrent pericarditis. And when I had it (decades ago, before Covid) it incapacitated me completely for 4 months.

the only thing that has actually significantly helped my full body/nerve pain is kava but it's pretty questionable and i don't wanna kill my liver. tho taking nsaids a lot is also bad for me. sighs.

the pee leaves have spoken: tomorrow i shall try to get a same day access clinic appointment because ive drank too much water for it to be that way

also i ran out of tylenol at home so now im alternating my NSAIDs with theraflu for the acetaminophen bc im just a silly goose

I have followed many youtube videos where I tug, massage & try to pop my ears. Also taken decongestants, NSAIDS, hot water in & on ear, I'm admitting defeat.

I have suddenly acquired blocked ears & must now suffer a tiny bagpipe player going bonkers in my head 24/7 as it makes my tinnitus worse.

Prescription level NSAIDs are fierce! Not for everyday use but damn. Pain-b-Gone!

• Triggers: Does the limping happen more after rest (cold stiffness) or after exercise?
• Medications: Is the dog currently taking any supplements (like glucosamine) or NSAIDs (like carprofen)?

Ah, I mean most stuff won't really hard you.
Only stuff I'd not recommend taking too much are NSAIDs and depressants.

I find this all hilarious because I got in trouble in HS for having ibuprofen in my locker. I couldn't have nsaids, but they're suddenly performing hormone therapy/complex surgery in a school day? You have to be the dumbest rube to believe that shit.

They say "we don't normally give narcotics for rhino rockets" like I'm not already maxed out on NSAIDs & acetaminophen and VERY MUCH NOT NORMAL in so many other relevant ways 🤬
October 29, 2026 at 7:37 AM
I can’t take nsaids because I’m on blood thinners, so I’m open to trying whatever I can. ❤️

sciatic back nerve pain sadly, there days walking is such a chore I have my cane to steady myself when walking. It's just been getting worse if I drive for awhile then try to do normal things. Back injections dont work long and I frankly hate doing it. My doctor also said no to NSAIDs so yay

Yeah, I've already had the problem that the referral expires because there aren't appointments within the time window :X

And at least thankfully I don't take nsaids etc, I just.... Suffer through it hahaha (there are also only teeny packs of those available here so it's more hassle than it's worth)
