2025 year of NETEX in America
GoVolta qui n'a toujours pas publié de son plan de transport en France au format NeTeX ou au moins GTFS alors que c'est une obligation légale (NeTeX est le format officiel, GTFS est accepté), alors qu'ils commencent leur service ici le 14 décembre… impossible d'avoir une réponse à ce sujet ☹️

NETEX is the bureaucracy of EU manifested as a bunch of xml files.
Last time I worked with NeTeX I gave up because I could not manage to parse it. AFTER DAYS! 🫣

Hab mich dann fürs Format GTFS entschieden, weil recht gut dokumentiert und "einfacher" als NeTEx und vermutlich ausreichend für meine Zwecke sowie als csv auch recht easy lesbar.

@moof I found that Eclipse has a functional (although not super enjoyable) plugin for working with XSD’s, including built in support for cross-file references.
It takes a good moment to load the NeTEx definitions though, if that’s what you’re working with 😂

Im NeTeX auch nicht. Die Züge kreuzen ohne Halt in Mitterweißenbach. Ist in der Interpolation aber daneben.

NeTeX is basically a bunch of XML files, but it is not ONE STANDARD, but rather a collection of different standards from EU countries that have been taped together.
For individuals working on projects it's a huge undertaking parsing this stuff.

Uf, I don’t get it where it is all heading.
- Transmodel/NeTEx for data exchange exists
- TAP/TSI overlaps for data exchange
- TAP/TSI defines API for reservations but refuses to integrate booking
logic
- OSDM with 11 years of development being rejected
- CEN starts CoRoM to copy OSDM+TOMP+NeTEx…

That's because they live in the future. They don't care about MERITS they support NETEX all the way, but the rest of Europe can't handle it.

Europe has extensive standard to exchange public transportation data: #Transmodel #NeTEx Downside is - you have to purchase the docs, you get hard copies, and you have to carry it physically between office and home. (PDFs get locked to first computer where opened) Carrying my 2,5 kg of paper now…

To nie ma akurat żadnego znaczenia. Po prostu trzeba zmusić przewoźników do stosowania GTFS albo NeTEx.

You should get that amended in, or it may not happen. All the stuff in the link you provided is super interesting. Maybe this was coming already with CTA aiming for GTFS-RT, but having the NeTEx and SIRI models in there is super helpful

…so again, they should regulate business practicess and relations. I can screw up retailers the same way using OSDM, TOMP, TAP/TSI, NeTEx, GTFS, … if I am not regulated.

Having worked a lot in the industry and European railway interconnectivity: lol
If their solution is as simple and easy as what they did with Netex while ignoring existing industry initiatives it's never getting used or implemented in a reasonable fashion
