I can attest to that. A $15 ABS speed sensor cost me $450 to install at the dealer. My OBDII reader won’t diagnose that.

No, it really did not clear up until almost the 80’s. And pollution devices were literally just being explored in the 70’s. There was some serious creativity that drove us mechanics crazy. They made a “smog pump” for some cars for instance. It wasn’t until OBDII that auto emissions were quelled.

You can get an OBDII reader (bluetooth, app on phone) to find out what the error light is on for. ~50 bucks.

Ich hab so Bock das Auto zu hacken, um mir Android Auto nachträglich freizuschalten. Aber muss noch OBDII-Stecker neu verkabeln. Aber so wie Frau fährt, werden wir das Auto eh nicht lange haben.

also have to imagine that this would have serious negative effects on resale value. people in the market for used cars shouldn't question whether they can rely on the odometers that a given carmaker installs in cars. and if this thing can fool OBDII scanners too, that's even worse

Bonus points if you fit a little motor to rotate it, and read the throttle pot position off the OBDII socket ;-)

I’m still complex as your have three different bleed points. While I’m there I’m doing the spark plugs because. I’m installing a head unit temp monitor and alarm as a precaution and I’ve installed a OBDII module so I can monitor all the sensors.

Well, my OBDII reader came and the only code my car is giving me is a misfire, which... no shit. So, nothing extra I need to worry about. Current working theory is the engine is shifting around on the broken mount and it's causing a vac or electrical short

I'm telling you, if you invent the OBDII dongle that disables all this shit you will make a fortune. No one wants it, it sucks at what it is supposed to do, turning it off every time you start the car is tedious.
