or guillotined hat rat

My entry. A tasty mead base one can build so much more on.
A Classy Session Mead 1/3 _Ingredients_ One pound of honey to the gallon — that is, ten thousand small commutes, ten thousand returns to a house that was never theirs; gold moved up, frame by frame, until it answers to a name that never flew. Water. Rain, or the river, or the pipe the town paid for twice. One packet of the dry and sleeping many. A spoon of something dead to feed the living. A Classy Session Mead _Ingredients_ One pound of honey to the gallon — that is, ten thousand small commutes, ten thousand returns to a house that was never theirs; gold moved up, frame by frame, until it answers to a name that never flew. Water. Rain, or the river, or the pipe the town paid for twice. One packet of the dry and sleeping many. A spoon of something dead to feed the living. A Classy Session Mead 2/3 _Method_ Do not boil. Heat takes the meadow out of it; what you scald you cannot call back. Stir until the thick gives up its seam and the sweet forgets it was a hoard. Pitch the small ones in. They do not ask what it is for. They wake, they find the sugar, they find each other, they begin. Then dark. Then the airlock's patient knock — one soft knock, one, one, one — which is not a clock. A clock counts down. This counts up. A Classy Session Mead 3/3 Nobody works alone in there. Nobody is named in there. The warmth you feel through the glass is only the sum of them. When the knocking stops, rack it off. Look at the floor of the jar. That pale silt is the ones who made it. Every glass you have raised was built on that and poured off of it. Bottle it low. Four percent. _Session:_ strong enough for talking, weak enough for hours. Not the bottle that drops one man in a corner — the jar that keeps a table lit past midnight .

THIS CAKE WILL BREAK YOUR HEART 1 tablespoon of being ½ cup questions and dirt 2 sticks of education, melted 8 ounces of memories, forgotten ⅔ cup of why did that happen 2 eggs, separated for no good reason A clove of expectations, minced 1 teaspoon vanilla extract Set the vanilla aside. In a large bowl, mix all of the other ingredients together while laughing. Hold the bowl up to the sun and see note the light warms your cold, cold skin. Do not put this in the oven, do not bake or freeze or eat. This cake is not delicious but a reminder that every good heart holds a recipe that breaks. Now add the vanilla.

Raising Ingredients: One small being, still soft at the edges A bowlful of patience, keep some spare to avoid running out Warmth, enough to ensure growth Firmness, just a pinch Time, more than you think, less than you wish Space, measured loosely Trust, sifted fine Method: Hold firmly, but not too tightly, mould just enough to shape, to stretch, to strengthen, not toughen, the bonds. Begin with warmth, let it coax the form awake. Fold in patience, again and again. The mixture will resist, slump, spill over the sides. Fold anyway. Give it structure and room to rise. Step back and trust the chemistry. Sprinkle in any remaining patience. Taste takes time to develop. Turn out when ready, protect if needed. The world will provide its own oven, hotter than yours, harsher than yours. You cannot control the temperature, only trust the fire.
