Posters and zines and conversations, diaries and photos and ... I don't know. Ephemera. All those little things.

Maybe I should make more of a point of bringing a camera to events, you know? Make a bunch of stupid photozines and try to convince my friends to keep copies of them around. Shrug.

Expanding on 'The Photobook as Archive' Offline Essay (No.9 in the series, published in Offline Journal issue #015, May 2026)
Part 2: Photozines as sketchbooks
_Brian Carroll, April 2026_ Photographers are often encouraged to think in terms of completed projects: the resolved series, the exhibition, the monograph, the carefully edited portfolio. Such forms provide structure and visibility, giving work a public shape. Yet they can also impose expectations on photographs that are still finding their direction. Not every body of work is ready for a book, exhibition, or a dust-proof archival box since some ideas need room to wander—to explore forms of presentation that can accommodate uncertainty, hesitation, and change. I believe this is where the photozine becomes valuable: not as a lesser publication, but as a flexible book form for closely reassessing old and new work. ### This post is for subscribers only Become a member to get access to all content Subscribe now

We spotted these A4 One Sheet photozines of monochrome photos hanging on string around a tree outside the church Högalidskyrkan on the island of Sodermalm in the city of Stockholm. I could discern no credit, the zine included a photo of the church.

gave my coworker one of my photozines the other day as he’s always been very interested in/supportive of whatever i’m working on, and he had the most thoughtful things to say — he is newer to looking at collage & abstract art closely, but said that seeing my photos helped him understand my framework

New Public Collectors photozines! I made a second set of 5 Morning Walks booklets that further document my Chicago neighborhood. These come in a printed envelope and all 5 are just $12.00. Find them here: halfletterpress.com/morning-walk...
From the Morning Walks series. This issue shares photos of object arrangements that look like Post-Minimalist sculptures. Morning Walks - Second set of 5 booklets By Marc Fischer Public Collectors, Chicago, IL, 2025 Pages: 40 total, plus printed envelope Dimensions: 5 1/2 in x 8 1/2 in, inside a 6 1/2 in x 9 1/2 inch unsealed envelope Cover: Paper Binding: saddle stitched Process: Digital and RISO Color: Full color and one-color RISO in various colors Edition size: 204 ISBN: none A follow-up second collection of 5 new Public Collectors booklets (2 sheets / 8 pages) created through walking, filled with dozens of photos and short contextual writings, collected together inside a printed envelope. These will mainly only be available through mail order and at fairs so get them here while they last. From the envelope cover description: This envelope contains five issues of Morning Walks - a 8-page/2-sheet Digital & RISO-printed publication. The titles of the booklets are: Totally Wired, Neighborhood Post-Minimalism, Delivery Directions, Garbage Numbers, and Down and Out Morning Walks are taken by Marc Fischer of Public Collectors, based in Chicago, IL. In November 2024, I began solo walking to improve my physical and mental wellness and reduce car-dependence. I start out from home in my Chicago neighborhood (Avondale), I often take photos with my phone, and organize what I’ve documented into folders that became these publications. More booklets with different themes will follow this collection. Public Collectors brings the periphery to the foreground. These booklets relate to others I have made in recent years with a similar commitment to sharing what I experience in my neighborhood and city. From the Morning Walks series. Some interesting items for sale in the shop here, particularly the photozines (clock the celebrity Blade on the front of that Sheff Utd one). The 80s pre-Premiership stuff (featuring a few infamous hoolie firms) is particularly good, esp. the pics from #LFC/ Yanited at Anfield in '85. lowerblock.com

Arguably, your excellent photozines featuring Spanish & Italian stadiums are actively encouraging football tourism.
We can't have it both ways, don't come and dilute our football culture, but we'll come and dilute yours
