#Bahrain #Birds #Waders Gt Sandplover normally leave mid-April to breed across Levant, returning early in mid-June. Yesterday found 40+ ALL looking totally different to norm. IMO differences are too big for just SSP variance. Need DNA studies that go beyond few old museum specimens.

A couple of days up north over the weekend took in the Northumberland Greater Sandplover (my 1st UK sandplover since 1997), alongside fantastic flocks of Roseate Terns & a tasty 2nd cal Caspian Gull on the rising tide at Newbiggin
