the characters in narrative don't exist outside the story you're telling and the longer you drag out a story into serialized storytelling the harder it is to maintain the illusion that they do, which is why serialized storytelling shouldn't go on forever

I don't know about you but a serialized Fallout TV show in the style / budget of something like Xena or Hercules would have absolutely kicked ass.
well, it wouldn’t be the same show. television used to be a lot cheaper to make and big budget CGI was reserved for blockbuster films. now TV shows are more expensive than movies and have the same fidelity and level of CGI.

So - two things. One, the fear of the loss of serialized gear would make losing these unacceptable to a professional. Two, a disciplined force would claim tens of millions of dollars of serialized gear was in said vehicle once lost…
You would ideally not want your raiding party so cowardly and incompetent that they abandon several hundred thousand dollars in equipment on operations.
Another vehicle opened. Back was full of license plates, gear, various fed patches.

It turns out that, by some strange coincidence, all of the Squadron's serialized gear was on that exact aircraft.

Common Side Effects is the best show that I hear too little about. Animated show on Max by Mike Judge and the folks behind Scavenger’s Reign (another banger.) It’s hilarious, surprising, moving and profoundly relevant. Full recommendation.

One of the reasons Crime and Punishment is so long, yet ends so abruptly, is that it was serialized, Dostoyevsky had gambling debts and strung it along to get paid, and finally his editor told him to wrap it up, already
The last time I saw someone pushing the idea, they claimed it would stop books becoming so padded with filler to make them longer.
