Question for naval architects, historians and shipyardians: how did yards 100 years ago define the draught marked on their drawings? I've run into issues while drawing a couple of old ships in CAD.

This photo of a seaman's cabin on a collier built and owned by the Britsh Electricity Authority has a bedspread with a monogram 'FBC' that seems to be unrelated to the ship's owners.
Any thoughts on what company this might represent? Circa 1950-70.

With our 90th anniversary and Veteran's Day landing in the same week, we wanted to highlight a founding member who also served in World War II. R. Loren Graham was fascinated with steamboats from an early age, living in Boston and on the North Shore.
