#Silibinin
Milk Thistle contains Silibinin.

“Silibinin reduces the production and mRNA expression of pro-inflammatory cytokines such as TNF-α, IL-6, and IL-8, suggesting that silibinin could be used for the treatment of mast cell-derived allergic inflammatory diseases.”

Silibinin inhibits the production of pro-inflammatory cytokines through inhibition of NF-κB signaling pathway in HMC-1 human mast cells
Silibinin is the major active molecule of silymarin, the mixture of flavonolignans extracted from Cirsium japonicum. It has been used for the treatment of hepatitis and inflammation-related diseases. ...

There's medical interest in #mushrooms right now & and not a lot published from Australia. @mja.com.au has published various papers on the toxicity of #Amanita species, including a case series in 2013 doi.org/10.5694/mja1... and descriptions from 1943 onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.5694/...

There are no cures for it in the US. We do dialysis, intravenous fluids and corticosteroidds, emergency liver transplant...

In Europe, purified silibinin from milk thistle is injected. This blocks the bile transporters in the small intestine. Then you clear the toxin.

It does not have FDA ✔️ in US

I wondered if I'd ever need to know about toxic🍄poisoning… then Amanita🍄 case came up! Delayed GI, liver & renal failure. Used MDAC, NAC & cyclosporine (blocks OATP, ↓ amatoxin uptake into liver). Silibinin blocks OATP too, but special access. Always grateful for poison center & toxicologist help! 🙏
Mushroom toxins: thousands exist, grouped into ~17 toxin classes! 🍄

Treatment is mostly supportive, with limited antidotes. For any ingestion, consult a toxicologist or poison center to stay safe.

Vetoquinol Lega Phyton 200 – Double Pack – 2 x 24 Tablets
Product description Lega Phyton is a supplementary feed for dogs and cats. Lega Phyton contains silymarin from the milk thistle fruit. Silymarin is a complex consisting of the flavonoids silibinin, silidianin and silycristin. These can help stabilise ribosomal protein synthesis, which can contribute to the regeneration and formation of hepatocytes. Furthermore, the cell membrane can have a supportive effect, which could prevent the penetration of hepatotoxic substances. When is Lega Phyton given? Lega Phyton can help support liver function in stressful factors or be used in the therapy of liver diseases. Please note that you should consult a veterinarian before giving whether this is a suitable product for your pet and follow the instructions of your veterinarian. Only if a veterinarian is diagnosed should a supplementary feed be administered. What does the liver do? The liver is a vital organ for survival. It is responsible for the metabolism in the body and produces bile for optimal digestion. If the liver is impaired in its function, this will affect the overall health status of your pet. Therefore, it is important to consult a veterinarian as soon as possible in case of health abnormalities. This means that a disease can be detected and treated at an early stage. How long do I have to give the Lega Phyton? The Lega Phyton should be administered twice daily, if prescribed by a veterinarian. After a continuous dose of 10 days, the dosage is halved. This is followed by a dose of 1x daily as a continuous dose. If your dog has been diagnosed with a disease, it is important to have the course of the disease checked regularly. Ingredients Composition: lactose, milk thistle seeds, lecithin, soy fibres, mixture of polydextrose, talc and medium chain triglycerides, magnesium stearate, soy protein hydrolysate. P.when('A').execute(function(A) { A.on('a:expander:toggle_description:toggle:collapse', function(data) { window.scroll(0, data.expander.$expander[0].offsetTop-100); }); }); Directions 1 tablet / 10 kg kg 2 x daily. After a period of use of 10 days, the dose can be halved, i.e. can be switched to 1 x daily dose. water for free absorption. See more
