PLEASE USE E2E ENCRYPTED CHAT APPS
-Signal
-XMPP (Cheogram, Conversations, Snikket, etc)
-Matrix
-SimpleX
RCS and iMessage are device dependent and not every phone is compatible
Whatsapp is owned by Meta/Facebook so I DO NOT trust them to not have a back door

It would be great if politicians could leave encryption the hell alone.
We ALL need it. It keeps us ALL safe. And basically all of us know that by now, too.

HRDAG stands firmly with the human rights community in insisting that encryption is not optional — it is fundamental to the defense of truth.
Any attempt to ban or backdoor encryption technology is a threat to the human rights community.

A month using XMPP (using Snikket) for every call and chat
For the last month, I’ve been using XMPP (using Snikket) for every call and chat between me and my wife Sandra, at least.

Highly recommend Snikket, you have to host your own server but it is secure and encrypted.

if you're concerned about aws, hosting a snikket xmpp server and getting friends to use xmpp is a great option.

I finally hitched the ride to XMPP. Self-hosting a Snikket server on a cheap VPS and I'm surprised how nifty and efficient the entire thing runs as. Managed to force migrate my partner and a couple of close friends and now I have my own personal chat universe.
