A meme on audiobooks and intellectual snobbery.

Yeah it reeks of snobbery for sure.

I think it’s nice that The Odyssey has brought back not only middlebrow blockbusters but old-fashioned literary snobbery

I'm not even abstaining out of snobbery like I simply know that TikTok would ruin my life. that would be a wrap on "my brain." I recognized this immediately and never touched the stuff
As a millennial I'm convinced that if I watch a single tiktok I will instantly crumble into a fine dust

classic French snobbery here
Okay, so: once you’ve nicked £90m in assorted crown jewels from a national museum, I think it’s safe to say you no longer fall into the “petty crime” category even if you haven’t previously been noteworthy in your field.

Louvre jewel heist by petty criminals, not organised professionals, says Paris prosecutor
Laure Beccuau said ‘upper echelons of organised crime’ unlikely to be involved as one perpetrator remains at large

Very, very much enjoying the tales of food snobbery in the comments. 👍

an important piece of context that might get lost here is that if you're going to go in on an uppity Californian, olive oil snobbery is the absolute jugular... even wine snobbery wouldn't have quite the same sting

Movie/tv/music criticism is unbearable to listen to these days because poptimism has somehow convinced everyone that saying *anything* critical at all is some kind of impermissible snobbery. But lots of things suck! Bring back some snobbery, I say.

The anti-AC snobbery (while not being anti-heat) must derive from a Northern European bias.
We do need to find ways to sustainably meet air conditioning energy needs but 1. it uses less energy to cool a home than to heat one! and 2. i believe we are absolutely capable of figuring this out.

millions of people will straight-up die in the near future without AC access.

Your reminder that audiobook snobbery is ableist as fuuuuuck
Amol Rajan doesn’t like audiobooks. They’re “lazy”.

It’s hard not to be cross, sometimes.

I don’t like Rajan’s opinion.

Snobbery to point out a platform has changed by doubling its size in a single month? You have a weird definition of snobbery.

We're bringing back literary snobbery. Genre fiction doesn't count as real books. Especially not romance.

It comes off as snobbery
The idea that there's a level of film knowledge that will make your criticism more correct than anyone else's is bullshit. Knowledge of film history/technique can give context and help articulate for the reader how/why a film works or doesn't, but so can...knowing the source material.

For all the snobbery about their authenticity, they’re still out there doing this while Johnny Rotten complains about woke
The crowd cheers as Billie Joe Armstrong, the lead singer of Green Day, asks the people at his concert in Australia if they want Elon Musk and Donald Trump "to shut the f*ck up."

She’s therefore been the subject to endless snobbery and classism and extra scrutiny from day 1- another reason she was foolish not to be meticulous.
