📉 Two-thirds of Russian regions will cut construction and improvement spending due to budget deficits.

Russian regions are moving from targeted savings to a systemic review of budget expenditures: investment programs, social facilities construction, and improvement spending are being cut.

I fact checked this using factcheck dot Org. It feels it was taken out of context yet when I read the entire quote, I disagree - he said it and his intent is clear: he Would “encourage” people to get off social security, as well as Medicaid - but no cuts to military spending.

Russia plans a post-Soviet record military budget, boosting 2027 defense spending to 17.1 trillion rubles ($202B). This unexpected 27% increase signals Putin is bracing for years of war. To fund this 380% surge from pre-invasion levels, Moscow is slashing healthcare, education, and social care.
Russia’s Spending Plans Show Putin Preparing for Years of War
The shift offers one of the clearest indications yet of how deeply embedded conflict has become in Russian President Vladimir Putin’s priorities.

Part B premium is $202.90, going up to $209.50 in 2027. If Republicans really wanted to help Seniors, they’d team with Democrats to pass a bill to make Part B free of charge. Seniors are living off low fixed incomes, and inflation has killed the spending power of a measly $2000 Social Security check

<<plan. Spending is projected to dip only slightly, to 16.6 trillion rubles in 2028. The war remains the top budgetary priority, while spending on education, healthcare, culture, and social policy is largely stagnating or being cut.

I must say spending much less time on social media has done WONDERS for my mental health and overall outlook. And I seem to be better informed than before, and have more agency. It’s almost as if there’s an ideal dose of it and it’s been designed / stumbled into a form that is not good for us…

The fascists must be spending a hell of a lot of money on slop AI posts on social media. Directed at the hard of thinking. I have just spent a long time blocking these accounts but they keep on coming. Dark times for politics.

Well properly regulating media so disinformation isn't so prevalent might help I guess. And making sure social spaces exist - cause people mostly seem to get into bother from spending too long alone on the internet.

Deleted my Xitter account, I had 35k followers there. The joy had gone and social media use was interfering with my spiritual work. I’m spending less time online, focussing on more nourishing activities. It feels like a cancerous tumour is removed. It hurts initially but you know it’s for the best.

functional competence, spending their time stuffing their own faces while contributing nothing, serving empty coffee, and engaging in deeper fraudulent activities, including identity theft and unlawful financial syphoning.

Spending on the military increases while education and social policies undergo dramatic cuts. Recruitment issues in the police?
Job adverts require to be physically strong and French. No minimal education level or understanding of law required. Why some policemen are abusive, brutal and racists?

The talking heads miss things that 80% of America don’t: social media. During the lockdown, that’s all people basically had. The algorithms have created self affirming economic outlooks. It’s exacerbated by Trump. Until he’s gone, it won’t reach equilibrium.
Americans feel more and more glum, data shows. Economists are over it — USA TODAY
Americans feel gloomy but keep spending, leaving economists to rethink how they predict the nation's economic health.

Social care is devolved. Any additional Westminster spending on social care in England should generate a Barnett consequential for Scotland.

That additional funding would give the Scot Gov an option.

It could put it towards social care or choose to use it to support Scottish pensioners instead.

Social care is devolved in Scotland. If WM increases spending on a comparable service in England, the Barnett formula normally generates a consequential for Scotland.

if England’s Care Service is funded through additional UK Gov spending, Scotland should receive a Barnett consequential.

These elite interests want to dictate terms for our governance that include more cops, less social service spending, pervasive surveillance, car-centered infrastructure, and priority access to municipal services. But they don’t want to pay for any of this. We’ve had enough; follow Starbucks: leave!

Our “anti socialist” Texas state govt has put maybe $1billion into a curriculum that would compete with private publishers. It includes a conservative rewrite of the social studies curriculum and plentiful bible stories. And financial incentives to districts
Exclusive: Spending on state-led Bluebonnet curriculum could top $1B
The amounts are the first public accounting of the program, which is part of a broader overhaul of the state’s K-12 education system under Gov. Greg Abbott.

As a Californian, the amount of ads I have seen railing against Prop 40 is truly obscene and also incredibly telling. Given the people with all the money are the ones spending a shit ton of it to not contribute more to the state. They’d rather spend money on ads than have it go to social programs.
22 California billionaires have spent a combined $150 million to defeat Prop 40.

Their combined wealth in January 2025 was $439 BILLION.

By September 2026, it had grown to $722 BILLION.

They're accidentally making the case for the billionaire tax better than anyone else could.
