#Solar/batteries/wind
New Mexico set a goal of 50% renewable power by 2030. It got there six years early.

Now, utilities there are building more wind, solar, and batteries to power surging demand growth. States that go big on clean energy cut pollution AND build stronger economies.

On-site batteries could help solar and wind farms get more power to the grid, and PJM Interconnection is finally paving the way for existing power generators to add them.
PJM desperately needs grid batteries. Here’s a way it could get some.
The nation's biggest grid operator is about to start working on a fix that would make it much easier to add batteries to existing power plants and solar…

Good morning with good news: USA will add 82.8 GW of renewable and battery capacity from September 2026 to August 2027!

Solar adds ~51 GW of utility & small solar; wind 8.3 GW & batteries 23.7 GW! EIA data.

Chart below does NOT include ~70 GW of small solar!

This is 100% the right take. Smart data center companies should be building installations of 100% solar/wind/batteries and avoiding gas.
if you want 85% margin to be your thing, you can afford to over build solar and storage
every major AI lab should be required to use 100% renewable energy, build solar infrastructure, do rigorous environmental impact assessments, and operate at carbon neutral or better

You can politicise energy, but you can’t vote away the cost curve. Texas follows the money, and that solar curve tells you where it’s going, followed closely by wind. Add batteries and the economics get even harder to resist. Good luck stopping that. It's not even a race, its domination by new #SWB

Yes. And what if all that money had been spent on wind, water, solar, and batteries? Our capitalist system is killing us all.

Electric car and heavy vehicle shipments grew by 61% in the first three quarters of 2026, wind-turbines by 45%, batteries 39%, solar 22% and electric two-wheelers by 21%. The year marked a veritable breakthrough for electric heavy vehicles and energy storage batteries.

China's exports of solar panels, wind turbines, electric vehicles and batteries are on track to help avoid 450 million tonnes of CO2 emissions in 2026, roughly equivalent to Brazil's annual fossil fuel emissions, with most of the climate savings benefiting countries in the Global South

All those £ billions we’ve directed towards Carbon Capture in the distant hope it MIGHT capture carbon could be redirected to the CERTAINTY of solar, wind, hydro, batteries, heat pumps & connectivity to reduce carbon output and regenerative farming to capture carbon.
Cool kind of citizen-science on carbon removal here. one detail that stuck out:

"Our study shows that if we were to implement regenerative row cropping systems on a national scale, that it represents the best climate solution currently available. And farmers don’t lose money or productivity."
Researchers reported that advanced regenerative farms stored nearly 40% more carbon in soil compared to the conventional farm controls and if all field crops used these methods, the equivalent of 1.5 years of US greenhouse gas emissions could be stored in soil. 🌎🌱

How much solar, wind and batteries could the US have done with 174 Billion dollars they've given to rich country Israel?

$174 billion investment could build roughly 120,000 to 130,000 MW of combined solar, wind, and battery storage capacity.

Power roughly 20 to 25 million average US homes

SIX YEARS AHEAD OF SCHEDULE!

New Mexico reached its 50% renewable electricity goal in 2024—originally targeted for 2030!

Its largest utility generated 80% carbon-free electricity in 2025.
Who says the energy transition has to move slowly? ☀️⚡

trump is against all eco energy sources and solutions because he is vested heavily in oil, which he leverages to his advantage in Venezuela and the Middle East whether by war or dirty deals. He hasn't found a way to profit from solar or wind energy or batteries.

The man has a bad thing about wind turbines, boats with batteries, and now solar panels. If shit were up to him, we would be still heating our homes with coal, and using oil lamps for lighting.

Yes, storage of any kind is important... whether it be battery, pumped storage or something else. To find the right place for the appropriate storage is problematic. Solar farms have space to put batteries, and so should on-shore wind farms. Batteries should be put where power stations used to be.

Damn, it’s nice to see a climate dataviz that shows humans blasting past projections in a *positive* way. Last week I (belatedly) learned about @aukehoekstra.bsky.social's 2017 Twitter-famous solar capacity chart. Here's my animated homage. Read more here: www.jenchristiansen.com/climate/exce... 📊

The case for optimism. More wind and solar reduce fuel costs; batteries become cheaper and more widespread; and gas is needed less often. Wholesale prices become less exposed to expensive gas, and savings increasingly offset infrastructure costs.
