This morning our seeing conditions were excellent and we got our first solar disc with prominences! I'm sure the images will get better as we go on, but this was so much fun to get today!

It's been a bit since I've been able to photograph the sun and it is looking spotty today! If you've still got eclipse glasses, you can definitely spot the two biggest without magnification.

Taking our Sun shot today during a break in the clouds at midday, we enjoyed a temperature of 52°F, powder-blue skies, brisk winds. Seeing was surprisingly good.

Gigantic Sunspot AR4366 just now. It's been tossing out X-class flares, but no CMEs. It has those locked up tight, so no aurora potential from that while it's crossing the meridian. Holding a solar filter up, it's just barely visible to the eye without magnification.

Full-disk view of the Sun imaged in ultra-narrowband hydrogen-alpha light. The orange-red solar disk shows the dense, filamentary texture of the chromosphere across its entire surface, with several bright active regions and small dark filaments. Prominences extend beyond the limb, particularly on the left and lower-right edges. The image was produced from 500 frames captured with a Sony A7S, TS61EDPH refractor and Quark Chromosphere filter, then restored using torchMFBD deconvolution.
