Things that make this tricky is after the crumbling of the Wagadu Empire, its people, the modern day Soninke People, migrated widely to different parts of Africa, and many of them converted to Islam and took on the those visual motifs and clothes. So what they might've worn pre-Islam is conjecture

Mauritania's presidential election may be impacted by Arab-Berber government making Arabic the official language in the education system. Some say the country's linguistic diversity is under threat. Black residents also speaks Pearl, Wolof and Soninke and see education in French as important, too.

No doubt. There is one article about it from the 1930s that claims it is a mixed Soninke/Berber language. I don't think the evidence presented is in favor of this idea

On a historical note: Wagadou was a an actual West African empire that existed sometime between 100 and 1200 AD, before its ultimate destruction and the scattering of its people--the modern day Soninke-- to the rest of Africa. While a giant snake probably wasn't the actual cause-

Tetserret is an Amazigh language. But we still can't explain its name from Amazigh. It can be a name given by Sahelian neighbours (Songhay, Hausa, Soninke, etc.) or Arabic. So all hypotheses are welcome !
What if the name of Tetserret/šinṣar language come from the name of annaṣara (Christians)?

That would be crazy

A language with Christian name spoken by Muslims which some traditions give a Jewish origin .
