Lyman-alpha radiation in the early universe pushed gas and dust away from dense star clusters, making those galaxies appear brighter. This effect helps explain observations from the James Webb Space Telescope.

Earth's gravity may have kept the Moon volcanically active for longer than expected through tidal heating. This explains why materials returned by the Chang'e-5 mission show volcanic activity as late as two billion years ago.

OK, this is big.

The @rubinobservatory.org has detected its first candidate dwarf planet!

It's currently named 2026 ED138. When confirmed with follow-up observations, the number of known dwarf planets will go from 5 to 6.

Its orbit is shown with those of the other dwarf planets in this graphic.

I’ve been thinking about space manufacturing a lot more recently and I realized that if you really want something to be made in space it has to be small, otherwise the physics of moving materials just won’t work.

So, this brought me to the thought of manufacturing semiconductors in space. #SpaceSky

The Extremely Large Telescope will use a proposed instrument called NEXUS@SHARP to study ultra-diffuse galaxies. These galaxies are as large as the Milky Way but far dimmer, which challenges current models of dark matter.

A low mass red dwarf star could be orbiting our Sun and nudging comets toward Earth every 26 million years. If this hidden companion exists, how would knowing its orbit change how we track extinction risks?
