#TRENCHJOURNALS
I've built quite a collection of #FWW #TrenchJournals, but this is the first time I have managed to get my hands on something from the #BoerWar. The similarities between the two wars in terms of soldier journalism are remarkably strong.

Pleased to have commented on Australian trench journals for the State Library of NSW's Openbook, as part of a piece on The Wipers Times and Talbot House. #FWW #TrenchJournals #WipersTimes #TalbotHouse www.sl.nsw.gov.au/stories/time...
Times of war
It’s almost 108 years since the 23rd and last edition of British trench journal The Wipers Times was published in Flanders in 1918, but work is well underway on issue 24.

Very pleased to add this to my collection, as it contains one of my favourite cartoons, 'The Night Party', from the #FWW. I wonder who ended up with the original? #WW1 #CartoonHistory #23Division #TrenchJournals

Some more copies of ‘The Outpost’ for my collection. I would argue that this publication should be the benchmark which other #trenchjournals are held up to; given it is probably the most ‘representative’ of such publications

This reminds me of @chance1234.bsky.social & his research into #cartoons printed in #WWI #trenchjournals.

One wonders if the Ukrainian military can find anything funny about the invaders from Russia.

“…and, lo, trenches are with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.”

—Ukrainian Jesus
A birthday in the trenches.

A trench candle and a sandwich instead of candles and cake. But a wish has been made.

May he have many happy and peaceful returns of the day!

@Chance1234.bsky.social, my wife and I started a DOWNTON ABBEY rewatch, and Season 2, Episode 1 opened in the trenches at The Somme, 1916. I briefly told her of your research of #FWW #trenchjournals.

(Please forgive us our guilty pleasures, but we are Americans, after all).

What with the PhD and all. It's been a while since I updated my website. I'm hoping to fix that with a series of short articles celebrating the trivial in history. Here's the first. #FWW #TRENCHCULTURE #TRENCHJOURNALS

If you think you have a complete series of the Wipers Times on your shelves, then I am afraid you need to think again. The Actor, Avesnes, and The Forgotten Evening Edition of the Wipers Times
