"Turn the bat light on when the thermistor registers >22 deg C"

I made a thing! (It's an analogue to digital converter with a thermistor - so I can use the thermistor with a Raspberry Pi) - old blog here: www.rs-online.com/designspark/...

Additionally, since I've bypassed the thermostat with my own digital temperature controller which has a built-in 3 minute lockout after short power interruptions, I don't expect that the overload will ever trip on my fridge now that I've replaced the PTC thermistor.

The most reliable method of determining ambient temperature isn't a thermistor, pyrometer, or IR reader. It's checking our bathroom sinks to see if Worst Cat is suddenly hot enough to start nesting there again.

back at it again at Ender 3 Pro, can't believe I managed to successfully splice in a new thermistor on this thing without fucking anything up

Its job is just to open for a few minutes, disabling the motor, and then it will reset. In a situation like a temporary power outage, that's enough time for the refrigerant pressures to equalize and when it resets it will start.

But not if the PTC thermistor has failed.

And as is the case for most fridges, that something is a device called a PTC thermistor. When it's cold, it passes power through to the start winding. But after only a second or so of current flow, it heats up and stop conducting electricity.

You can actually hear this when a fridge starts!

Someone mentioned a thermistor at work, so my dad joke brain instantly thought of a thermistor shooting Anna with a pop gun - ther-hit-her!

It’s take the dryer apart day. New thermistor arrives sat… Can’t complain though. Is 18 years old…

(I broke the Thermistor)

Snail can UPGRADED! To adapt his cooling system for summer and winter, he now has a variable fan thermistor switch so I can set when exactly the radiator fan starts up. Sooooo nice on cold days and will be great for summer too. #weirdcarBS

before any well-meaning friends try to help: it’s not just the heating element, it’s the thermistor and the control panel too - the parts alone cost 2/3rds as much as a cheap dishwasher

Jace pulled out a laptop with ODB, and I knew he was going to kill himself. My engine coolant thermistor pulled low, firing a powertrain limp DTC, opening debug conceit on the gateway for firmware flashing. He was going to kill me, too. We were both

Anyone who has started to snide Ruben after 6 weeks.

Well.

You should go outside, man up and think about what a pathetic short thermistor flim flamming wanker you may be.

Looks like the thermistor in my clothes dryer has crapped out. This thing is 18 years old and I’m just gonna shove another $10 thermistor in there, clean it out with the vacuum, and keep kicking this thing down the road.

For now, it’ll have to keep drying clothes on low temp.

honestly, yeah.

It's probably a silly idea to think that I should generate parametric thermistor values on a microcontroller given thermistor pull-up and beta.

Oh I found more bearings for the 1400 too

I need to get the printer working again, think it needs a new thermistor

Interesting.. I had inadvertently found a way how to put a SoftBank Samsung Keitai into test mode or something of the likes.
Not 100% sure what this does for us yet. But it’s a find. You can do this by shorting the thermistor to + and on boot it shows this.

Well this is cool. We put a dual-thermistor egg in a King Eider nest - average incubation temperature stays constant, but she rotates the eggs. Is the intense bilateral cooling necessary for development, and that's why aviaries have struggled to hatch them?

oh look now i know why the thermal control loop in this radio isn't working.

what the fuck has this radio SEEN?
