בראייה היסטורית, ארכיטקטורה ופרוטוקולים שפותחו על בסיס פילוסופיה טובה (להבדיל מסתם פונקציונליות) תמיד לקחו את הקופה. מישהו זוכר היום את TokenRing או את Novell Netware? גם במערכות הפעלה, אחרי שנים של תחרות מרה, Unix זכתה. ככה גם יהיה עם טוויטר. בטווח הרחוק בלוסקיי תנצח.

when I started in IT in 1997, we had three different email systems (one PC, one Mac, one Lotus Notes). We had Ethernet, TokenRing and LocalTalk. Some floors had TCP/IP, some floors had AppleTalk, we had Win3.1 AND NT AND MacOS 7.5, and half the building's internet came via modem pool.

I've been waiting for token ring to make a comeback. I'm going to call Apple support, though, I can't find the PCMCIA port on my Macbook air.
I bought this 30 years ago for about $500 bucks (my boss was not impressed).
