The unions representing support staff and technical professionals at the University of Vermont Medical Center have reached a tentative, two-year deal with the hospital, AFT-Vermont announced Tuesday.

A group of UVMMC infusion nurses have started doing an annual fashion show to raise funds for @americancancersoc.bsky.social. They model the infusion gowns they have to wear when handling chemo. And they make them FANCY. It was fun & powerful. There are still good people out there. All is not lost.

One good thing here is that the hospital food at UVMMC is better than most. Not always— I have eaten a lot of extremely overcooked chicken breast and fish fillets but today I had this: the best thing I’ve eaten since I got landed in this place almost 10 days ago.

What Vermont needs is a second healthcare network to keep UVMMC honest. The Green Mountain Board has zero incentive to do better other than to just keep the lights on. UVMMC 's success as a big regional hospital is despite the board, not because of it.
