#Universalist
And by "literal universalist" I mean Josiah Bartlett, who attended a universalist church.

And if you're wondering, yes: That's the same Bartlett the fictional President Bartlett is descended from in The West Wing, although the character is, interestingly, Catholic, unlike like his ancestor.

A long-standing sign saying federal agents aren't allowed on the property stands outside First Universalist Church. The sign is especially true today, as federal law states that federal agents can't police polls.

Religion note: Cruz appears to be accusing Hamilton of universalism (the idea that everyone goes to heaven), but Hamilton has stated the line in question was inclusivism, not universalism.

Also: among the signers of the Declaration of Independence was at least 1 literal universalist, and likely 2.
Warnock on Ted Cruz suggesting Muslims won't see heaven: "It's bigotry. Pure and simple. Religious bigotry is bigotry. Republicans know they are losing the argument. It's deeply disheartening, though not terribly surprising, that they are trying to stir up these old demons."

Politicization means you are loyal to the military but the military isn’t loyal to you — if you don’t agree politically. You cannot maintain an all-volunteer military without a universalist ethic. If Hegseth prevailed, it would not be long until we saw conscription by force.

you do have some genuinely universalist utopian religious cranks mixed in but thats also true of polish nationalism.

*sigh* I'll get the Calvino-solvent, I assume you want "humanist" flavor rather than "universalist"?

One of my favorite pleasant interactions last year was two very young Mormon girls trying to convert me (out side the Catholic Church I live near!) and then getting to tell them “thank you but I am the President of our local Unitarian Universalist congregation. Come by any time!”
my god i didn't hear exactly how it began but i overheard my mum dismissing a jehovah's witness at the door with what sounded like "no thank you, we're catholic, we have enough jesus" and just straight up closing it in their faces

Look I love the sentiment but this is Unitarian Universalist erasure.
In 16 years of reporting, polls have and my own investigations have revealed that from same-gender marriage to trans kids in sports, American Muslims are the biggest defenders of LGBT legal rights. (American Christians are consistently the most theocratic and regressive opponents to LGBT rights.)

I do think McMorrow would’ve had an easier go of it but I really want Abdul to win for the obvious reasons but also because it just fucking sucks how Islamophobic society is and I think taking a chance on electing a progressive Muslim senator who believes in universalist human rights is critical

As an atheist Unitarian Universalist I can support this. I do not oppose beliefs. I oppose dogma telling me what I can and cannot question.

Oddly Calhoun co-founded All Souls Unitarian Church in DC with John Quincy Adams. That congregation is among the most integrated Unitarian Universalist congregations and played a big role in the civil rights movement. The ironies of history.

This means a lot to me. In 2006, I co-chaired the campaign by my then-church (Unitarian Universalist Church of Arlington) opposing the same-sex marriage ban. While we won in Arlington, of course, we lost in the broader Commonwealth of Virginia. Nice to see this repeal pass and pass decisively.
BREAKING: Virginia voters have passed Question 2, repealing the 2006 same-sex marriage ban and codifying marriage equality.

Virginia is for lovers—and tonight, love has won again.
