#VRA
we are looking at the VRA ruling and going, wow, that's X seats gone. they are looking at the VRA ruling and seeing the end forever of any kind of meaningful input to community self-rule

hell my parents were both born before the VRA and CRA. and i have plenty of living relatives who experienced jim crow

SCOTUS double tapped the VRA and Black communities (rightly) *got fucking furious*
I know Alabama isn’t Miss but NYT needle apparently just moved the Miss Senate race to toss up and omg WHAT IS HAPPENING in the south 🤩

This is why Alaska had been under VRA Section 5 preclearance before Shelby County.
Democrats have filed a lawsuit in Alaska accusing election officials of failing to properly operate at least 18 rural polling locations. The complaint warns that several thousand voters across predominantly Alaska Native communities face disenfranchisement. trib.al/w62mYIa

Also, afraid of “ see, who needs the VRA”.
November 4, 2026 at 9:17 AM
we are undoing Dobbs, Citizens United, Callais/Shelby County/every fucking VRA decision, all of it
November 4, 2026 at 7:56 PM
They cancelled the VRA and we elected a Democrat in SC.

I have a feeling the VRA reversal is going to matter for this election.
Among Black voters in Louisiana who were drawn out of districts where they could elect a candidate of their choosing, early voting was 75% of their 2024 numbers.

For White voters in the same region, it was just 47.5% of 2024 early voting.

Five Black governors tonight with a win in Nevada! Y’all done fucked with the VRA for the last time 😤
November 4, 2026 at 9:49 AM
I think it’s possible that gerrymandering, a national pogrom against Latinos, and blowing up the VRA didn’t quite have the effect Republicans were hoping for
November 4, 2026 at 2:28 PM
The next President must unpack the Supreme Court and the D Party must reinstate the VRA.
November 4, 2026 at 2:18 AM
new VRA. expand the house, DC puerto rican statehood, proportional representation.
November 4, 2026 at 3:16 PM
Yassss! TY, @charlesgaba.com for adding VRA candidates.
November 4, 2026 at 4:47 AM
I assume that "the important things" includes the VRA.

So: HIGH SPEED RAIL HIGH SPEEd RAIL HIGH SPEED RAIL let's goooooooooo

get everywhere fast on trains
let's do INFRASTRUCTURE DECADE
Taking a second to dream.

We get tribunals for ICE. We abolish DHS. We get the NPV compact. We enshrine bodily autonomy rights - abortion, transition, everything. M4A. We do the important things.

After that.

What's something on your wishlist, that an energized dem trifecta makes happen?
November 5, 2026 at 1:47 AM
Yeah, Roberts is going to say “see, we didn’t need the VRA after all”.
November 4, 2026 at 10:04 AM
They spent billions of dollars

They gerrymandered the living daylights out of these districts

They stripped the VRA and all but sold it for parts

And none of it was bigger than the people.
November 4, 2026 at 12:46 PM
Trump dominates all media coverage, but you have had two huge *structural changes* that directly affect minority voters that have largely gone under the radar and the effects of ICE and SCOTUS murdering the VRA will persist *long* after Trump.
November 2, 2026 at 3:29 PM
The VRA and redistricting stuff pissed off a whole lot of people.
November 4, 2026 at 2:06 AM
Just imagine if there wasn't gerrymandering, voter suppression, or rollback of the VRA.

Keep fightin'.
November 4, 2026 at 3:54 PM
worth remembering that a large part of the black voting electorate is what you might call the first VRA generation — people who would have been the first in their families to turn 18 with the actual right to vote — and that their parents/grandparents lived through jim crow
yeah, so, i think Bluesky may be kind of structurally blind to exactly how mad the organs of Black politics in the South are right now
November 1, 2026 at 11:58 PM
They need to go scorched earth on the republicans after the repeal of the VRA
November 4, 2026 at 5:30 AM
Democrats should propose constitutional amendments to overturn Citizens United, ban gerrymandering, overturn presidential immunity, reform the Court, revive the VRA, restore Congress’s authority over agencies, and ban Congressional stock trading. Go run on that in every single corner of the country.
November 4, 2026 at 3:12 PM
Shouldn't have fucked with the VRA so much.
November 4, 2026 at 4:54 AM
Black turnout across the South is through the roof and the national media seems to be ignorant of the fact that effectively ending the VRA is part of a broader effort to roll back democracy. Black voters are mobilizing in response. For a region with perpetually low turnout, this is huge.
November 2, 2026 at 3:22 PM
You don’t screw with VRA.
I have been intentionally not paying attention, what’s the five-word summary?
