It's an unsolved problem. The ideal future is using W3C standards like webmonetization, github.com/guidovizoso/.... In practice, the nostr community is having success with lightning "zaps", getalby.com. Payments are so hard that even basic transactions warranted a $100b startup (stripe).

like even just trying to read through the docs, it's like look at interledger, now look at openpayments, now look at webmonetization, and like 😵💫 it's all so confusing, like how do i even set up an address, how do i link my different payment accounts, how do i even use this fucking thing????
so on this writefreely instance i can set up "Web Monetization" and like on the face of it, it seems nice, one address for like all payment shit to go through, but even setting it up for receiving is confusing af, this will not have wide adoption until it becomes less confusing 😵💫
