Fascinating to see how different games development is to e.g. SaaS development (or anything backend or frontend development).

"Job well done" means something very different in both cases. And both dev lifecycle and what "great" means is very different between one another.

I'm putting my spec-first development theory to a full test with an atproto browser side project

Thick client (apps are all built in) + intents + a plumber, runs against a fixed backend with compute and a giant atproto db, plan to have an inference provider as well for contextual prompts

while i've been loudly proclaiming in the atproto devs discord meetings that you probably don't need an appview for your atproto side project, i'm now also working on my own "atproto backend in a bottle" that runs on cloudflare workers 😅

still super WIP, but happy for any early feedback

- 50K-100K is success for them.
- One week of Steam sales can be months of console sales for them.
- Steam backend easy to use. Xbox backend rly corpo. It's software development not game development.
- So much back and forth, which makes it harder.
- Asus RoG Ally made the Xbox ports possible

well, the way that development tends to work is that the frontend team works on and prioritizes frontend tasks and the backend team prioritizes and works on backend tasks. Account portability is a backend team thing, and ordering thread replies is a frontend team thing.
