Its the time of the year where I am burning PTO and the weather is fabulous so I took the day off. Which means you are stuck with an #Agenda but its a fun one.

* Walk at Bdote
* bike ride?
* Hot tub at the gym but no work out
* clean some stuff up
* Grill burgers

Zak, I learned that Lake Agassizi drained south to Mankato and then north to Bdote at the Mississippi. It also drained north to Hudson Bay.

This article on Wikipedia provides a great deal of nuance to what we know about this geologic period.

Minnesota's hellmouth. We defiled Bdote and the wound's been festering for 200 years.
TIL and was horrified by the historical through line of Fort Snelling

I was going through some old photos/videos and thought I’d share a few snippets of soothing things I found.

This is the Mississippi River a few years ago in August, near Bdote, where it joins with the Minnesota River.

“Fort Snelling” by Nicholas Brewer (1890). This looks like the Hexagonal Tower of the stone fort that was built around 1820. Above the confluence of the Minnesota and Mississippi rivers, the fort is in the ancient Dakota cultural landscape of Bdote and is now in the center of the Twin Cities.

Going to Minnetonka …you’ve got some serious O-VA-RIES. Good scores. I like the savers in Inver Grove Heights. It is very very white also, but for some reason I don’t feel like I’m on another planet. And I really like the drive, crossing the bridge over Bdote.

The Mississippi River today at Bdote, looking upstream toward Minneapolis which is normally visible in this view.

That'll probably be the line we wind up drawing.. can't create any distinction that allows for fascism, and even then we need to monitor public schools (and boards) actively.

Luckily that wouldn't stop Bdote Learning Center.. charter, but still public.

yeah same. The Wikipedia entry for him suggests he advocated clemency for the Dakota 38+2 so it’s wild they named a federal building on Bdote after him.

And, under that flat vale, at increasing depth heading south to Bdote, is the only natural run of rapids in the only natural gorge along the course of the Mississippi River.

Restore the gorge.

With commissioner @kayforparks.bsky.social on the Bdote educational tour, which everyone apparently needs- the trauma by the US government at the place of origin is something we all need to reconcile.

Yeah, this has been my realization through this. No shit it's felt like such a special place, so close to bdote, where Coldwater spring flows into the river

I fully expected bodies to be found in Fort Snelling State Park at Bdote this spring after what the feds were doing at Whipple.

the folks getting upset about moving the dog park somewhere else would understand that it's not ok to put a dog park inside Stonehenge.

It's the SAME idea!

In Dakota Tradition, Bdote is a holy site.

Then you add on the Concentration Camp where so many died in 1862-3?

"Move the Dog Park" is easy.

Right‽

It's like the folks YEARS ago, upset after Black Mpls residents pointed out that MLK Park was *NOT* a good place to recommend putting in a dog park.

Except this is WORSE, because the dog park *got* built!

Bdote is Sacred Ground

Dog Parks don't belong *in* Notre Dame or the Sistine Chapel,
