Pixi can now natively build R packages - for your own packages or thirdparty packages from CRAN or Github. The new `pixi-build-r` build backend makes it possible. pixi-build-r will install compilers, system-level dependencies and R / r-packages from @condaforge.

The RFC period has started on the "staging cache" CEP for the v1 recipe format. This might sound like gibberish but is a powerful feature that will allow us to convert more (complicated!) packages on @condaforge to the V1 recipe format!

Last week, we merged a large refactor of rattler-build to split it up into multiple crates and make the parser even more strict. As part of this work (together with @anacondainc) we ran the new parser over >3000 @condaforge feedstocks already converted to v1.

Learning something new everyday by building cross-platform tools. The @condaforge m2-git behaved a bit weird when asking for `ref^{commit}` to get the latest commit. It's because MSYS does some glob-expansion and strips `{` and `}` when not using `set MSYS=noglob`...

Micromamba. Faster rewrite of conda. Uses the same protocol, but doesn't add anything anaconda by default - everything comes from the independent condaforge.
Don't know wrt to gcc. Personally, if I installed gcc through conda, I'd expect it to have precedence when the env was active.
