#decentralization
nah both come from the same thing which is they saw decentralization as "get power away from the old holders so I can grab it"

110%, the amount of transparency and decentralization in American elections is why they're so hard to rig!

I mean “stable coins” and “decentralization” were already kinda at odds

no such thing as decentralization under capitalism

Alberta is still facing down the demons.
Separatism is not decentralization.
Decentralize data and down with the surveillance network state.

as every good decentralization enthusiast knows, a centralized system is easier and (probably) more profitable but diversity is resilience

It's given rise to a lot of problems, of course, but that is one big benefit of the decentralization of political media.

Ah crypto, the security, the decentralization, the garanty of forever, gotta love it.

100% as a recovering PhD here. So much hierarchy maintenance work. So much pearl clutching when *gasp* what was once a codified, gate-kept body of knowledge trends toward decentralization. The humanities of it all!!

practical decentralization means your posts can live on another server but a single company controls the experience for almost all of the users anyway
NEW: Bluesky is blocking links to a leaked archive of records on 41,000+ DHS employees, citing the contact information inside. The company says it chose to block links, rather than remove posts, “to avoid limiting public discussion or restricting broader access to reporting and commentary.”
Bluesky Is Blocking Links to a Major Leak of DHS Employee Records
Bluesky tells WIRED it blocked links to a leaked archive of information on 41,000 ICE, CBP, and other DHS workers because it contains people’s contact information, shared without their authorization.

I remember trying to tell people about that whole "decentralization" marketing bait and switch at the time. It seemed so obvious to me but so many people bought it.

I believe in decentralization.
November 2, 2026 at 4:51 PM
is this decentralization??

Instead of optimizing for efficiency, you can optimize for resilience. That means a lot of decentralization and redundancy. And that means personal computers so people have the ability to have a local backup of their data instead of trusting everything to the cloud's owners.

he went on to add that the decentralization of money amongst millions of individuals was much less efficient than letting him set fire to it all himself

Arbitrum’s Security Council restored the original code after moving $30M, but the precedent remains: emergency upgrade power can override ordinary account controls. That is both a safety feature and a centralization risk. #Arbitrum…

While I respect the pro-decentralization aspect, GPUs and computer chips are one of the hardest things humanity has ever manufactured. You can't skip democratising the means of production.

Also, it feels a bit... right-libertarian? The state *can* just take your GPU if they wanted to. With guns.
Where we're headed is relatively predictable

Yeah the people dumping troves of fic in gdrive are being thoughtless but also peer to peer sharing is decentralization, so maybe we can all just chill a little on the humans who are trying to help other humans read human stories
October 31, 2026 at 2:49 AM
I mean back to the point, the level of decentralization changes the turf for a LOT of social struggles generally. E.g. housing costs are much more tied to trans rights generally because “vote with your feet” is more important in the U.S. than UK
