Dediagnosing claims to reduce stigma, but it often aims at reducing access to care to save money.
It wants to reduce "overuse":
"Dediagnosing comes together with other efforts to reduce overuse, such as deimplementation, deprescribing, decommissioning, and disinvestment."

JAMA’s message for healthcare leaders: “doing less” is often harder than doing more. Trials of deprescribing and de-escalation show that some interventions can safely be reduced, while others cannot. Success requires patient selection, monitoring, and shared decision-making. #MedSky buff.ly/1S9Z0fJ
Deescalation, Discontinuation, and Deimplementation Trials
Deescalation, discontinuation, and deimplementation trials have emerged in multiple health care contexts in which interventions are suspected of being inappropriately used, applied beyond their…

Postoperative Interventions and Cost Associated With Disposition After Tonsil and Adenoidectomy
CONCLUSIONS: A minority of PICU admissions following T/A procedures require urgent or emergent interventions. This suggests that deimplementation of routine T/A PICU admissions may facilitate transitioning patients to the inpatient unit, reducing costs and optimizing PICU use.

I’ve had more brilliant conversations with teachers about deimplementation this term than I have about implementing new things. It feels exciting to be stripping back and helping teachers fall back in love with the best job in the world.

Doing the final unit of my Masters on leading wellbeing in schools.

One of the first topics was on deimplementation.

My question is what would you deimplement at your school? And what would you throw more energy at?

Doesn’t have to be wellbeing focused.

The current vogue is 'deimplementation'. Or, more simply: doing less, better.

For wise leaders, every day is an opportunity to find 'just right'. To slim down. To sharpen. To remove policy and process. To minimise, not maximise. It's how you make a lot more progress with a lot less effort. [4/6]

Never heard it called "deimplementation" before. Sounds like a close relation to the philosophy I adopted a while back: just say no. :-)

This is a really important paper. Strategies for deimplementation have received too little attention in psychotherapy to date, so it's good that this has now changed!
