Most people don't realise that 9 of the 13 weeks of annual teacher holidays are unpaid.

I like to think I'm a good teacher or, if not good, one who works hard to try to be a good.

When I see posts on socials tarring all schools and teachers with a 'they're all rubbish' brush, I consider leaving too.

As much as I hate to say it about my profession, people need to learn that pre-16 knowledge taught in school is often simplistic and lacks nuance.

Basic level of knowledge, not the full story.

Yesterday, a year 7 told me that the cohort believed I was the scariest teacher in the department.

Their reasoning was that I'm always teaching sixth form when they happen to have lessons and therefore I'm the removal room.

Gotta love year 7 logic.

I agree. I think it’s a useful tool when considered as an aide not an adversary.

Just like any resource we use & refer to, as long as we continue to QA the outcomes & ensure we apply a critical lens to the product it creates, there is little harm for it to play a role in our ed. #edchatuk #edusky

If you truly want a child to learn something, you need to allow them to get it wrong and then correct them. Memory is so much stronger when you make errors first.

This is why no hands up approaches to questioning in classroom can be so effectively when done with purpose...
