This is the problem with not having carefully characterised phenotypes and endotypes. A sledgehammer approach is not going to work in Long Covid with treatments that target very specific pathology.

The whole thing is a mess. Until we have the research to identify and characterise these illnesses into distinct phenotype and endotypes, renaming an existing umbrella term doesn’t help anyone 😣

Vuong and Délépine et al. apply unsupervised clustering to routine neutrophil, lymphocyte, and monocyte counts, thus defining four reproducible and temporally stable immune endotypes of type 2 diabetes. Severe inflammatory diabetes (SIND) displays the greatest inflammatory burden, marked by monocyte-centered immune activation, and is associated with heightened cardiovascular, renal, and mortality risks.
