For #EYAAnimal we present these beautiful paintings of South Indian birds. Painted on sheets of mica and mounted into an album, the colours are as vibrant as when they were painted in the 1850s.

Today's theme is #Heroes and we've chosen a selection of photographs of early female mountaineers.
These women refused to leave the #mountains to the men - and it's always a joy to find images of them in the collection.

Today, visitors to our central Hintze Hall are greeted by the wonder of a real blue whale skeleton, a female, named Hope.

But what would visitors in 1901 have seen in this same location, then called the Central Hall?
