Californians have been facing this for years now. I have been dropped by my insurance and will have to rely on the FairPlan which is raising my rates by 200%. But I feel fortunate - my sister’s went up to $14000.

Sadly the amount of insurance I am paying to Fairplan and wrap around precludes most home hardening work. Available funds have been sucked up.

Farmers canceled our insurance in 2023. We spent $15K on mitigation work they requested and they did reinstate but doubled the premium! In 2024 they bailed and wouldn't budge. We now use Bamboo for liability and CAL Fairplan for fire. We're in Sonoma county and have never claimed in 70 years insured

Oh yes California here. Farmers would not cover me this year had to go to CA Fairplan 1/2 the coverage for double the money and had to pay another $1600 for a wraparound policy.

A flyer from a Waterpistol show 27 years ago at the Old Store, which was literally an old store (pharmacy) that was turned into the raddest DIY club in Palmer, Mass. This show celebrated the release of our first recording "The Sticks and Stones Theory" 7 inch. Thanks Western Mass. Band Archive.

The exact increase depends on each homeowner’s situation. Those living in areas at a high risk of wildfire may pay significantly more. Some will see their wildfire premiums double. #California #FAIRPlan #HomeownersCoverage buff.ly/qkgSoEg

everyone has been *super cool* so far and it's especially nice not to be writing insurance in CA and dealing with Fairplan bs anymore. The only "real" stress is now I'm in sales, where I belonged, and have to meet quotas.

Karl Susman talks about the California FAIR Plan and its claim payouts. With increased payouts, insurance rates will rise on a sliding scale based on risk. Residents in high wildfire zones will pay more than those in lower risk areas. #FAIRPlan #CaliforniaInsurance #InsuranceClaim #InsuranceHour

California's FAIR Plan just got a 29% rate hike approved. 668K+ homeowners were already forced onto this plan when private insurers left. Now they're paying the price. Bay Area and San Jose, this hits your wallet directly.

How much do you see the fairplan raising its rates? My guess 33-60%, but you probably smarter than me

CA’s insurance market is in crisis.

Wildfire risks push more homeowners to the FAIR Plan—but can it survive?

AB 226 may keep it stable with state-backed bonds.

With enrollments up 500%, action is urgent.

🧵Q: Should homeowners get credit on their policies for home hardening?
A: You get no credit for it in the decisions the insurance companies make when they write or renew your insurance. That’s really outrageous.

In most cases here we get dropped from the insurance but what that means is they are not going to cover you for fire you have to get fairplan for that then they will charge you twice as much for the gap insurance that’s how it went from 3k to 14k in 2 years

The issue in CA is actually Prop 103 passed in the 80's as a protection from rate increases. With climate change the homes can't be properly priced so companies have left the state, necessitating FairPlan insurance. MT won't do this because if nothing else, they have shown they don't care about us.
