SAM You! SLAM! The concrete shatters. Sam and Liv drop to their knees and claw away at the heavy, unforgiving concrete. Their nails grind and splinter on the concrete slabs. Sam hisses in pain as she yanks her hands away. Two of her nails have completely lifted! LIV Oh, god, are you alright? Sam examines her fingers, blood trickling toward her wrists. LIV Sam... Sam steadies her breath, then -- She bites down on her nail, cranks her head, and rips it off! LIV Oh shit! Sam spits it out. Wipes her mouth with the back of her hand. Then she chomps down on the other nail! The membrane stretches, fighting to stay connected to both nail bed and nail. POP! The nail comes loose, and Sam spits it out. Liv looks at her, her lips trembling. SAM Had to be done. Sam attacks the concrete slab, ignoring the pain, and pulls up a final piece, revealing a dirt under-layer. Sam shoots to her feet, grabs a shovel, and digs. KEEP DIGGING.

THE JUDAS APOCALYPSE

During WWII, a bookish archaeologist embarks on a perilous quest behind enemy lines to hunt for a long lost treasure that the church has zealously kept hidden for centuries.

#ScriptSky #IP #ISA #firstpagefriday #funpagefriday
ANCIENT CHURCH - DAY Ambroise’s attention is fixed on a faded red stone that is out of place with the gray stones in the floor. As Rourke brushes past the red stone, he exposes a slow-match munition fuse. Ambroise struggles. AMBROISE Do these ropes have to be so tight? Ambroise yells as Rourke pulls them tighter. MATTY ROURKE Yup. Rourke hears the group returning. In Rahn’s hand is the codex. DOUG MARKHAM Nothing down there but a bunch of goddamned bones and that book. Denninger takes the codex from Rahn and squats down in front of Ambroise. DENNINGER What is this, Father? Ambroise eyes the fuse. AMBROISE My wrists are on fire. (beat) If you untie me, I will tell you everything. Markham unties Ambroise. The priest draws in a deep breath. AMBROISE What you hold in your hand is the Apocalypse of Judas Iscariot. A shocked Denninger hands the codex to Ambroise. The priest declines. AMBROISE I know it by heart. Rahn takes the codex as Denninger opens his notebook. Okay, let me set the context.

I used to do a one man webseries about a 121 year old filmworker telling stories about his life.

Well, I took two of the episodes and tried to write a narrative short.

First draft is rough but I think I'm on the right track.

I don't partake in these too often, but in honor of making the Dead List (www.officialstuntlist.com) this week, here's a #FunPageFriday for JUST LIKE YOU. A fateful "meet cute".

#scriptsky #FirstPageFriday
A screenplay page from Jonathan Fournier's horror/dark rom-com script, JUST LIKE YOU. The protagonist, Ben, gets ghosted as he waits for a date at a coffee shop, only to have a "meet cute" with Julie, a woman walking into the cafe. Full text available upon request.

#FunPageFriday for my sexy robot script. Every story needs a little comic relief, and hippy dippy Gwen makes a perfect foil to her serious and driven older sister. #Scriptsky
INT. MYSTIC MARCIA'S MASSAGE PALACE - SAME Gwen lays face down on a massage table. A formidable woman with a bun comprised of multi-colored dreadlocks atop her head works oil into Gwen's shoulders. This is her crazy ex-girlfriend, MARCIA (30s). Low-fi hip hop plays on the Bluetooth speaker until-- DING! GWEN Gah! Can you see who that is? I'm expecting a package... Marcia rolls her eyes, but leans over to view the screen. MARCIA It's a text from your sister. She still having problems getting laid? GWEN It's complicated, but yes. What's she want? I already put the trash cans out, for Christ's sake... Marcia picks up the phone and swipes. Then squints. MARCIA Don't know. It just says hibiscus? Gwen bolts upright. GWEN Oh, fuck! I knew this would happen... She leaps off the massage table and throws on her robe. MARCIA Knew what would happen? GWEn Killer robots, Marcia. I've got to go save my sister, and maybe the world. She kisses Marcia, grabs her purse, and storms off. Marcia throws her hands up and shakes her head. MARCIA God damn, that bitch crazy.

Variety discusses the dismissal of Netflix's film head, Dan Lin. In this clip from the piece, we get to see the power of an A-list (female!!) director:

(Talk about a #FunPageFriday! 🤭)
written by Matt Donnelly In the weeks before his exit, reports said Lin clashed with filmmaker Affleck (director of the just-released “Animals”) over the use of his AI platform InterPositive. Perhaps more consequential was a rift with Gerwig this summer over the upcoming “Narnia.” The movie represents a $250 million theatrical-first gamble. Four sources with knowledge of the matter said that, indeed, Lin and Gerwig had a falling out during a Zoom call about the project earlier this year. On a virtual meeting populated by numerous Netflix executives, Lin is said to have been “dismissive” to the director in conversation about the progress of the film. Lin is known in town to be incredibly fair, but at times obtuse in his frankness. Word travelled fast around Netflix that the meeting had gone south, at which point sources said Bajaria called Gerwig’s producer Amy Pascal to smooth things over. Two sources also said that Gerwig’s new, all-powerful CAA agent Bryan Lourd went to Sarandos directly over the faux pas. Lin was subsequently disappeared from the film, all sources concurred, and Belgrad stepped in as the primary Netflix exec overseeing the project (until, of course, he was laid off last week). #FilmLife #Movies #FridayMovies #ScriptSky

Tori realising the person who should have helped was her - as she and Crow find themselves trapped in a caravan about to go no place good in my Australian thriller FAR AS THE CROW FLIES. Wolf Creek meets The Breakfast Club.

INT. WHITE CARAVAN - MINI-GALLEY - DAY Ragged breathing inside. Silence outside. Tori peeks out around the counter to see Crow, sprawled on the floor between the beds. Shades on askew. Face bloody. TORI Crow? No answer. She heads into the... SLEEPING AREA - CONTINUOUS Crouches beside Crow, who groans and stirs. Tori keeps her voice low. TORI You ok? Sorry. Stupid question. Here. Let me - She reaches for Crow’s shades. Crow raises a hand and shoves hers away. Tori reaches for her phone. Stupid. It’s not there. Whispers - TORI Where’s your phone? Still dazed, Crow concentrates. Winces, reaches into... an empty pocket. Shakes their head. That hurts too. TORI Fuck. She listens at the door. Lifts the latch and pushes. Nothing. She shoves it. Still nothing. Winds up for a body slam... CROW You’ll hurt yourself. She SLAMS into the door anyway. Crow’s right. She YELLS, loud as she can, beating on the door as, unnaturally calm, Crow watches from the floor. TORI Help! Let us out! (to Crow) C’mon - shout! We need help. CROW What help? There’s no help. Defeated, Tori slumps against the door. TORI There was me. I should’ve helped. A rusty-brown broken feather the colour of dried blood against a pale blue background. More of a #FunPageFriday than a #FirstPageFriday, but all the same - behold! A page from Micro Machines: The Series, from the first episode in which Spider must deal with a very unwanted fanbase for his heroics in the movie prior, and Anne starts moonlighting as a vigilante~ #ScriptSky

EMILIO It worked, didn’t it? EXT. MALL - PARKING LOT - DAY The gang rush across the parking lot, not stopping until they reach the far side of it. For a time they all <PANT>. BONNIE Are you OK Spider? Spider gives her a brief thumbs up. JETHRO OK, this is getting ridiculous. It was one thing to keep the races a secret, but how’re we supposed to keep Spider a secret? (exasperated) They won’t leave him alone! Spider grimly nods to that. <EXHALES>, troubled. BONNIE This town needs to learn what boundaries are. EMILIO Might as well get used to it. INT WEST'S HOUSE - DAY A single colonial-style house sits in the middle of a smallish zoological park. Inside, HOLDEN WEST, 40s, a man who has come far, cooks a massive and lavish breakfast. He hums brightly to himself as he works. HOLDEN Girls! Breakfast! A lioness Awakened enters the kitchen and stretches, several vertebrae popping loudly. This is AMARA KENDE, teens BF with white hair and golden eyes, regal and proud. She saunters over to the kitchen island and samples a piece of bacon. She wears a crisp white military-style uniform. AMARA Good morning, Father. HOLDEN Morning, Amara. How'd you sleep? AMARA Very well, thank you. A second girl enters, sandy blond hair, Native American features, and multiple yawns. She is a cougar Awakened, and she takes a piece of sausage. This is XALISI JULY, teens, living epitome of 'semper paratus', also in white uniform. XALISI Morning, Daddy. How much toast did you burn today? Holden makes a face, then grins. HOLDEN That was ONE TIME, Xalisi. And YOU were distracting me so Penda could steal an extra pancake. I'm never gonna live that down, am I? Xalisi holds mischief in her eyes and smiles. XALISI Not today. You could have just let Penda have the extra pancake. HOLDEN I would have, had she asked. XALISI See, I tried to tell her, but she had to come up with one of her complicated schemes. Holden chuckles, then a dark-skinned hand touches Holden's shoulder. Holden jumps, startled. The hand belongs to EYRA SERUNI, teens Malaysian F, black panther Awakened, quiet, thoughtful, observant, white uniform. She grins up at him. EYRA Hello, Father. HOLDEN You'd think I'd be used to you by now, but gods, Eyra, can we not give me a new heart attack once per day? EYRA (shrugging) You know me. I prefer not being seen. Holden looks up suddenly, his eyes bouncing around the room. HOLDEN Wait, where's -? His words are cut off as a hundred pounds of freight train slam into him from the side. He makes an audible "OOF" as he is slid several feet to his left, a fourth Awakened girl hugging him tightly from the side. This is PENDA JUBARI, teens South African F, sunshine, rainbows, ADHD and anxiety, who also wears a white uniform. Her skin is a subdued yellow mottled with dark spots. Her eyes are squeezed shut as she hugs Holden mercilessly. HOLDEN (cont'd) Penda, love, we talked about this. I love your enthusiasm and affection, but last year you gave me a concussion, remember? PENDA YesFatherIrememberButIPromiseIWon'tDo ThatAgainThisYearIDidn'tHitYouAsHardA sICouldHaveAndIPromiseToKeepYouPerfec tlySafeFromEverythingBadINcludingMeOh MyGodIDidn'tHurtYouDidI - Amara places a gentle hand on Penda's shoulder. AMARA Breathe, Penda. In and out. Amara draws a slow breath in, then lets it out just as slowly. The other two girls do the same with Amara on the second breath. Penda sees them and follows suit as she lets go of Holden. HOLDEN You didn't hurt me, and you aren't something bad I need protecting from. You're just full of energy and I love that for you. The rest of us move at a slower pace. And you have to remember your physics. Momentum and kinetic energy. A small object can have a massive impact. Amara's continued breathing exercises start to work on Penda. She slows down. She still speaks faster than the rest, but it isn't the runaway train it was before. PENDA I understand, Father. I'll slow down. You'll see. I'll be the best at slowing down. The very best. I'll be the slowest cheetah ever. I'll be so slow you'll think I'm a sloth. Okay maybe a slightly fast sloth. A pretty fast sloth. A really fast sloth. Like Flash in Zootopia. Well, like his car. A superfast sloth. But, like, without a car. Can we watch Zootopia again this weekend? I really want to see it again. It's such a great movie. I love movies. Movies are the best. But not horror movies. I don't like horror movies. Remember the time we watched Smile and the rest of the week I didn't trust anyone who smiled at me? That was bad of me. I was bad. I'm so sorry I was bad that week. Were you mad at me, Father? I hate it when you're mad - Holden smiles and boops her nose, slowly. Her eyes cross as she follows his finger to her nose. It short circuits her. HOLDEN I wasn't mad at you, Pen, and you weren't bad. I felt bad for you. You were reacting to a new experience. Life is like that sometimes. We react badly to certain situations. It's perfectly human. Her smile lights up the room. She laughs a dopey, goofy, aww-shucks, adorable laugh. Holden smiles at her, as do the other girls.
