#ggsql
I am excited beyond description to lift the veil on what we have been working on in 2026:

Please meet ggsql! A new extension of the SQL language for creating visualisations using the grammar of graphics. Read all about it in the blog post or visit the website at ggsql.org

Hey @thomasp85.com @teunbrand.bsky.social,

I created a chart builder built on top of #ggsql: plotr.org.

Sort of the ggsql Esquisse version :) Would love to hear what you think! It's still very much experimental though.

SQL + ggplot2 = ggsql ❤️

It is hard to find new and exciting open-source projects that aren't related to AI or the agents hype, but this one definitely looks amazing. ggsql is a new open-source project from Posit that implements the grammar of graphics with SQL syntax.

I've been hard at work on a new renderer for #ggsql to replace Vega-Lite and it is close to ready for primetime.

Here, you can see it running in the browser, showing of a much improved layout model for faceted plots, along with native markdown rendering

🤯 @posit.co launches ggsql 🤯

- yes it is precisely what it sounds like.
- rust based stand-alone, needs vscode or jupyter (or merely wasm) to run
