That’s not unlike how Jane Goodall earned the trust of the chimps at Gombe. Are you the Jane Goodall of Manhattan?

Dr. Jane says that "Gombe is my past, my present, and my promise to the future."

This year, we're celebrating #Gombe65 – Monday marked 65 years since Dr. Jane went to Gombe, which means 65 years of brilliant research at Gombe Stream Research Centre. 🎉

Watching a Jane Goodall documentary. There’s a part where the chimps suffered a devastating polio outbreak in Gombe. The outbreak started in humans.

She and her team vaccinated the chimps because the vaccines save lives.

Unreal that our HHS Secretary is actively trying to convince us otherwise.

Gombe is the place where Dr. Jane made her groundbreaking observation that chimpanzees make and use tools.

But chimpanzees are far from the only species that make Gombe such an extraordinary spot. 🦋

I’m sad to hear the news that the wonderful Jane Goodall is no longer in the world. Her work with chimpanzees at Gombe in Tanzania taught us to look at other apes - and ourselves - differently. I was privileged to meet her later in life and tell her what an inspiration she was to me.

Have you ever heard about Gremlin? One of chimpanzees at Gombe, she celebrated her 55th birthday recently.

Because of the ongoing research at Gombe – research that started with Dr. Jane – the Jane Goodall Institute team has known Gremlin since birth.

Fact: When Dr. Jane flew over Gombe, she saw the contrast between the lush landscape where she conducted her chimpanzee research and the barren, deforested areas surrounding that spot.

She knew then that she had to dedicate herself to community-led conservation. 🌿

Fun fact: Born in 1972, Wilkie has been an important figure in the research that Dr. Jane conducted at Gombe.

Dr. Jane has observed his remarkable journey from infancy to fathering more than 10 offspring – giving him the record for the most known offspring at Gombe.
