Nah, it's at least 40% professors avoiding grading or writing.
Bluesky is NOT a niche microblogging website. Bluesky is the well attended office slack of illustrious publication Liberal Currents.

Grading midterm during the midterms
Americans, how will you be managing your 'nauseous optimism' today? Glued to a screen? Out in a forest? Locked in a closet rocking yourself?

Tomorrow is group project day.

Wow.

Grading quizzes of kiddos who didn't pay attention is harder than grading quizzes for kiddos who did.

Frantically grading midterms on midterm election day.
It is a busy day of grading and an event on campus in the middle of the day to prevent me from doom/joyscrolling (until later).

She got a homework assignment from a fifth grader and answered it like a threat. Last night the district answered back. A kid writing his congresswoman is civics class working exactly as designed. Her career ending over it is just the grading.

Ok I actually managed all of this except for grading. But! I had forgotten that tomorrow is also a teacher work day, without any meetings. So tomorrow will be Grading Day.
Things i have been mentally scheduling for tomorrow, before 4ish:
- finish grades (hours of work)
- attend meetings from 7am to noon
- create a test and study guide
- participate in a potluck lunch
- renew driver's license at dmv
- get flu/covid shots
- swing by thrift shop for 1/2 off Monday

A spoon is still sharper than a billiard ball, we're grading on quite a curve.

The kid doesn’t have school today (it’s a voting precinct) so running a playdate and grading is keeping me from obsessively reading takes online, it also means I just told a curious group of 8-9 yos all about the Lizzie Borden case, since they saw me grading Lizzie Borden mock trial papers.

It’s essay grading time. I wish students wouldn’t make me read LLM generated bullshit. I much prefer papers with weird grammar and misspellings.

This was my grading a week out; we’ve exceeded everything, other than Emmer survived.

A truly fabulous night.
1 week out, here’s how I will grade election:
-nightmare: GOP retains house & senate
-bad, but something: slim house win
-bare minimum: 10+ house majority
-good: 15+ house, narrow senate win (vulnerable to Fetterman defection)
-great: 20+ house, +2 senate
-fabulous; as above, plus Emmer out (+more)

Everyone hates grading. But if you don’t do the grading, you don’t know what could have been taught more effectively.
So they may or may not use AI to write their essay. Then you grade it with AI? Do I have that right? JFC just say you don't wanna teach. Signed, a prof who hates grading and does it anyway because it is her job.

Me to myself when grading papers
Aggressively wrong, but at least confident.
