✨THE RICE GOD COMETH🌾

Today is the 'first day of the horse' (it falls some time around the start of February each year).

Hatsuuma (初午) celebrates the arrival of Inari Ōkami (稲荷大神), god of rice, prosperity, agriculture and industry, fertility, saké and rice, on Mt Inari in 711.

Emperor Jimmu ascended the throne on New Year's Day (the first day of the first month) in the traditional lunar calendar.

There is no historical evidence that Jimmu existed, but the date is significant as New Year is an auspicious time for change and fresh undertakings.

Traditionally, people visit an Inari Shrine during Hatsuuma in what is known as the "Lucky Visit." It is believed that this visit brings good fortune and prosperity.

All Inari Jinja (Inari Shinto Shrines) celebrate that event, on the first Horse Day in the second month of the year either by the lunar or modern calendar.
