That sounds interesting. Both medium and accessible ID guides.

I have been using a homemade polyvinyl alcohol/lactic acid/glycerol mounting medium for aquatic hyphomycetes and lichens. Occasionally I have mounted some ticks... I will have a look at your recipe!

To round things up: If small ascomycetes on ascomycetes are not your thing you can look next to them on the stick. I believe this is the anamorph of Tubeufia cerea (Helicosporium vegetum).

Size matters - Tetracladium breve looks very similar to T. setigerum, its just much smaller. You can see it next to the larger T. marchalianum spore in the 1st image. The second image shows a T. setigerum in the same scale. #AquaticHyphomycetes

I (think I) found spores of 9 species of aquatic hyphomycetes in this sample. The main numbers were of Alatospora acuminata and Clavatospora longibrachiata with some others mixed in. Also some I have not seen before.
Pear shaped conidium with 3 thin arms (Clavariopsis aquatica) Long quite thick conidium with 2 arms of near same thickness (Tricladium splendens) Small conidium with 3 thin arms (Clavatospora longibrachiata) curved conidium with 2 arms like spead wings (Alatospora acuminata)
