#interorgan
Ooooo!!!

This could help explain autistic alexithymia…

Emotions you feel in your body could be being processed in your hindbrain, but those have to be passed to the forebrain to be turned into named things, which means it’s an interorgan communication “problem.”

Intermittent fasting triggers interorgan communication to suppress hair follicle regeneration
Intermittent fasting halts hair follicle regeneration by activating communication between adrenal glands and niche adipocytes, which in turn selectively induces apoptosis of hair follicle stem cells but not epidermal stem cells in the skin.

Interorgan crosstalk typically occurs via the bloodstream. We showed that brain-heart-gut interplay also occurs in their electrophysiology at infra-slow timescales. We found that fluctuations in the gut are typically followed by the brain and heart after tens of seconds.

The food industry extensively uses high-fructose (HF) corn syrup in the US. This study shows that the liver converts dietary fructose into lipids, which distant tumours use to grow faster. The authors show that an HF diet promotes skin, breast and cervical tumour growth 🧪
