Such a move could mean that, in the phrase ‘fear of retaliation,’ the EU’s executive power is driven more by fear than by actual retaliation.

Google's RTB (real-time ads bidding system) contains tons of highly sensitive personal data that can cause massive problems for a lot of people. Yet more reasons to restrict the amount of data companies can collect.

"The ban's origin comes from Ireland having inherited two legal concepts from English law, called “maintenance” and “champerty.” The concepts date back to medieval times; the Irish 17th century law enacting them is still in effect today."

It surely must be time that politicians start treating Big Tech lobbyists with the same consideration they reserve for child abusers.

@johnnyryan something to build on.

Rather than trying to regulate #bigtech perhaps we need to more aggressively promote ethical software and sidestep the creepy ad industry altogether?

@johnnyryan has this situation improved?

As an Irishman myself I cringe when I think of the Irish data protection commission. Please tell me they're not as bad as in 2021 🙏

Ah yes.... Enda Kenny welcoming in #bigtech with open arms and zero tax.

Ireland's economy was on its knees back then, so I can kind of see why he did it. What's inexcusable is how much the gov has been bought since then to do big tech's bidding - and not enforce ANYTHING […]

Muscles need an independent thinking brain and a functioning neural system to achieve anything.
