In Starship Troopers where does the name "Klendathu" actually come from? Nobody has had a conversation with a Bug (which in any case don't have body parts that would produce human-like speech), so it doesn't come from them.
It's as if Heinlein just thought "This sounds alien, never mind the details"

IMDB - Starship Troopers (1997)
EASTER EGGS: if you look closely at the extras in the dropship landing scene, you can see NBC’s Brian Williams reporting live from the Battle of Klendathu

“Can ill afford another Klendathu”
Wrong answers only. My bet:
thanks for all the fish.

I love that the brawl between Rico and Xander is to the sound of Fade Into You by Mazzy Star. But OMFG now it’s my favourite scene in any film ever. The invasion of Klendathu. It makes me cry every time it’s just so fucking good.

Oh God I just realized that Russia is literally just 20th-century Terran Federation on 21st-century real Earth.

(Buenos Aires was a false flag to justify a poorly-conceived campaign of genocide against the militarily-distant people of Klendathu. Propagandized population supportive until goes badly.

I, at age 9, was allowed to watch this for some fucking reason

When asked for comment, Sky Marshall Diehns said only "We must destroy Klendathu and end the bug menace once and for all!"
October 5, 2026 at 12:56 AM
Is Keggy about to tell us that “We can ill afford another Klendathu”?
October 4, 2026 at 2:10 PM
This guy ain’t read history or anything. He just thought Starship Troopers was cool because it had guns and bugs. The ground invasion of Iran planned for winter will be as disastrous as Sky Marshal Dienes’ invasion of Klendathu

2026-10-03. Another action sequence? The Klendathu Drop sequence in "Starship Troopers." Paul Verhoeven in his prime, perfectly balancing propaganda and realism at the same time. Maybe it was a case of needing to be there in the moment but it was really good and Basil Poledouris' score is amazing.

Enjoy Zegema Beach before Klendathu attacks

"Accepting responsibility for Klendathu, Sky Marshal Dienes resigns. His successor, Sky Marshal Tehat Meru, outlines her new strategy."
Lol. I wonder if she’ll be wearing her new coat to the conference.

Actually the Federal Armed Services is far more integrated and responsive than our own military. After the failure of Klendathu, the Sky Marshall is replaced by a female POC who advocates a more measured and successful approach to the bug war

She’s right

We can ill afford another Klendathu

No tengo muñecos tan pequeños pero podría hacer una escena en Klendathu, bichos malvados atacando humanos.
¿Desea saber más?

... I see no reason to take things presented as obvious in-world propaganda as in-world fact. Also, this is a million years long approach to inter-system travel. And Klendathu is presented as "on the other side of the galaxy".

The Corporation dispatched Rock Hart to Saturn to look into the xenomorph/predator gang wars. When the Klendathu bugs joined in, he got suspicious. Sure enough, the MAGA refugees were stirring up trouble to spark an apocalypse and the return of their dead leader Trump. #TwtStory

They explain in the classroom dissection scene that the bugs are able to colonize other planets by throwing asteroids with their brood on them into space.

That's why they live on multiple other planets in their own system, not just Klendathu.
September 15, 2026 at 8:38 PM
My argument isnt that the human societies are shown as good, but that the threats they face are real.

The bugs have a multi planetary society, in the first film at least occupying both Klendathu and Planet ‘P’ where the brain is captured.

I think Starship Troopers is the only movie I've ever seen that literally shows the pipeline of how fascists directly feed their entire civilization into a blender for no actual profit, just war.

Klendathu is an immediate bloodbath of incompetence and failure after the fake "bug attack" on Earth.

Hell's Half Acre, Wyoming though it is more famously known as Planet Klendathu from the film adaptation of Starship Troopers, where many of the fight scenes were filmed. #vanlife
