Hot take but a Steward of Gondor naming his child Denethor (the 1st Age king of the Laiquendi) is like the Emperor of Japan naming his son after Æthelred the Unready. #tolkien #luinellë

Noldorin princes act a lot of the time in the book like this is some great slight against a bunch of benighted refugees but that's not what they are. They are colonisers! Thingol was perfectly normal to the Laiquendi, who were actual refugees.

if you're going to make up a movie based vaguely on Tolkien's notes you can put some black and brown people in it, it's allowed. no one but dumb internet racists will care. "all of the Broadbeam dwarves are black actually" or "Some of the Laiquendi look Asian." You could do it, it's a fantasy world

outside of those areas the elves the silm easterlings were most likely to have interacted with were overwhelmingly avari, nandor, or laiquendi.

No many third age names are taken from the first age. Minas Tirith was an elven tower in beleriand, Denethor a Laiquendi elf, grond the battering ram was the name of melkors ‘hammer’ (mace)

laiquendi being like you do this with the aid of your appointed tutelary tree spirit. snooty valinor elves always talking shit about this as an unlettered folk practice, not realizing how well it works as a spiritual technology

One of the longest songs I've listened to, it's also one that seems to have better knowledge of Tolkien's world too. Immediately apparent by use of Quendi but the lyrics reveal use of Moriquendi, Laiquendi, and Calaquendi. Very unique! Give it a listen and let me know! 3/3

A mix of Nandorin/Laiquendi/Sindarin? Probably too many Avari living there but some of their linguistic influence might have held too.

He's a great expression of a Nandor/Laiquendi IMHO.

Nandor are the ones who started and quit the journey sooner and are split into the Laiquendi and the Silvan elves.

Silvan are better known, they're the normal inhabitants of Mirkwood and Lothlorien.

Pirei. #elfos #silmarillion #Tolkien

Maybe a wandering Telari or Laiquendi?
September 30, 2025 at 8:40 PM
No one ever scrutinizes the Laiquendi even though their reaction to seeing humans for the first time was “get these things OUT of our forests”.
i think my hottest Silm take is that the noldor get too much hate relative to the Sindar, who are if anything much more racist
