I decided early on that Siren wouldn't have a typical editor. I'm currently editing a map in LDtk and seeing the changes hot-reload in my running game instantly. I could just as easily use a different editor, like Tiled.

Bring your own tools and define your own workflow.

Mais um vídeo de LÖVE 2D. Dessa vez explicando como aproveitar a IntGrid do LDtk pra implementar um pathfinding pros nossos inimigos utilizando a biblioteca love2d.org/wiki/Jumper

most of the strife in this project was stuff like "the graphics look bad in the browser" or "idk what i did but i messed up my LDtk map somehow and now this layer is mis-aligned" etc. Fennel was just there being excellent throughout.

Mais um vídeo! 🐧

Dessa vez mostrando como utilizar editores de mapa externos (mais especificamente o ldtk.io) nos seus jogos com a LÖVE2D.

back at it again. Rigged a bunch of new under the hood unnecessary stuff. Finally getting an overworld set up in LDTK! Need to "ROUNDIFY" the world.

I think I'm gonna attempt BOTW fallen star beacons for the POIs you haven't cleared yet

The Adventures of Kincaid is rebuilding its furry NSFW platformer around explorable planets. The team also added automated checks for save corruption, crashes, controls and level loading, and switched world-building to LDtk. https://cookiedraggy.itch.io/kincaid/devlog/1655207

as usual, i've tried to make things easy on myself. here's how i add soft background lights to the environment in LDtk.
September 7, 2026 at 10:50 AM
am i stupid or is it *impossible* in LDtk to copy an Entity on one layer and paste it on another layer?

Cutting the existing purple wall as well, slowing going towards more visual variety...

(oh, and still loving @deepnight.net's LDtk editor)

And here is LDtk editor.
September 4, 2026 at 2:49 PM
anyway, have another code snippet! today i finished loading LDtk files and wrote some naive tile rendering code. it's not shown here, but i'm doing my standard fix for avoiding tile seams and other pixel game problems, which is "draw everything to a scale=1 canvas and call it a day"
September 3, 2026 at 8:24 PM
got a really basic LDtk test going, but the library i'm using is archived, so i'm gonna write my own in Fennel this morning >:) if anybody smarter than me knows: is there a "correct" way to gracefully set a bunch of fields from one table on another table in fennel? 🤔

re: tilesets, i need your preferences:
- one tset per layer or map with indices
- texel coords instead, allows easy tileset resizes (LDtk)
- many tsets per layer and map, with tile ID remapping (Tiled)
- many tsets exported as one "working set" and texture per map (Wizwag Nim and probably others)

It depends on the kind of game you want to make, honestly. If you're making a 2D game I would recommend Godot or GameMaker. Aseprite if you're going to do pixel art. LDtK is useful for quickly building levels.

Ldtk
August 4, 2026 at 6:30 AM
that is so crazy! I made it with LDtk for the game a while ago and couldn't find the tileset or my source file again so I kept using only this background haha it's a really good asset :D
August 3, 2026 at 5:57 PM
Okay, I started with an 80 megabyte LDtk file and I'm down to 9 megabytes now

...and I haven't even compressed the tiles yet. I think I can squeeze this down to 3 megs or less :)

I did something wrong when converting from LDtk to my own level format (it'll be fixed soon)

but behold, one of the most beautiful glitches I've ever produced
July 25, 2026 at 2:12 AM
Finally started this thing I've been holding off for a year. A converter of the level format. LDtk (json) to Hotdog (my own format I use for everything)

I thought this was gonna take a week, but I'm 3 hours in and halfway done
July 23, 2026 at 9:53 AM
Honestly, its probably easier to just write a thing that auto-converts this json into a big chunk of odin literals instead. It is an LDTK-based tilemap, so it needs to always be in ram either way
